Dolly Parton Has Confirmed Her Retirement From Touring

Dolly Parton has hung up her guitar and country boots as she confirmed her retirement from touring. The country icon announced that she would no longer be going on a full-blown tour again, which is something she has done her whole life. Touring takes so much of her time and energy, and Parton notes that she will never be able to do it again.

Parton also admitted that she prefers staying close to home and with her husband of more than five decades, Carl Thomas Dean – more especially now that they’re getting older. “I would feel bad if I had to leave a tour if somebody got sick at home and needed me, and then I had to walk out on the fans,” Parton said.

Parton’s most recent full-fledged tour was in 2016. The singer made a stop at sixty cities around the United States and Canada for her Pure & Simple Tour. This year, she has done a handful of shows, which includes hosting the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards. However, there is nothing confirmed for 2023. 

Still, Parton reassures fans that she will be doing “special shows here and there, now and then,” it could be a “long weekend of shows or just a few shows at a festival.”

A String Of Projects Lined Up

But just because Dolly Parton will no longer be visiting state to state to sing her hits, the “Jolene” singer has a string of projects lined up. This includes continuously releasing albums, filming movies and television projects, and of course, writing books.

In fact, she recently revealed that she’s cooking something up! This includes a rock album and her plans of re-recording “Stairway to Heaven” as part of a trilogy albums project. We are truly excited to see what’s more the country queen is about to show us.
