A sea of pink has filled rodeo arenas across the country as the community mourns the heartbreaking loss of three-year-old Oaklynn Rae Domer.

The rodeo world continues to grieve following the tragic death of Oaklynn, the beloved daughter of 10-time Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Champion breakaway roper Kelsie Domer and her husband, Ryan Domer. Oaklynn passed away on February 19, 2026, after a devastating accident on the family’s property in Texas.

According to widespread, unconfirmed accounts shared by rodeo friends and social media outlets, the accident occurred while Kelsie was leading two horses, with Oaklynn on her hip. Community reports describe one of the horses suffering a sudden medical emergency and collapsing, falling onto both mother and daughter. Kelsie survived, though details about her condition have remained private at the family’s request. Oaklynn suffered fatal injuries despite life-saving efforts. The family has not released a detailed public statement about the incident and has asked for privacy.

Born on August 11, 2022, in Granbury, Texas, Oaklynn shared a birthday with her great-grandmother, a detail lovingly noted in her obituary through Lanman Funeral Home in Dublin, Texas. In just three short years, she became a familiar and cherished presence around rodeo arenas, often seen in tiny boots cheering on her champion mother.

The news of her passing spread quickly through rodeo organizations and media outlets. The WPRA released a statement saying their hearts were shattered by the sudden loss. The PRCA and Cowboy Channel also shared messages of condolence. Premiere Women’s Rodeo thanked the Domer family for sharing Oaklynn with the rodeo world, writing that her tiny bootprints would be forever stamped on their hearts.

At events including the San Antonio Rodeo, competitors and spectators showed up wearing pink in Oaklynn’s honor. Pink shirts, pink ribbons, pink hats, and even pink accents on ropes and tack transformed arenas into living memorials. Cowboy Channel footage captured rows of cowgirls standing together in pink as announcers paused to recognize Oaklynn’s life. The gesture was simple but powerful and showed the world exactly what cowgirls are made of through strength, faith, resilience, and heart.

Journalist Kendra Santos wrote that Oaklynn was the center of Kelsie and Ryan’s universe and did not know a stranger in the rodeo world. Friends and fellow competitors described her as joyful and fearless, a bright light who lit up every room she entered. Many shared photos of Oaklynn grinning beside horses or riding along in a wagon, soaking in the life that surrounded her.

Kelsie Domer is one of the most accomplished athletes in breakaway roping history, with world titles in breakaway, tie-down roping, and all-around competition. Raised in a ranching family in Cherokee, Oklahoma, she built her career on grit and discipline while also embracing motherhood. Since Oaklynn’s birth, fans often saw the little girl traveling with her parents to events, becoming part of the fabric of the sport.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 26, at 11 a.m. at Double N Cowboy Church in Dublin, Texas, with a graveside service on Friday, February 27, at 4 p.m. at Auburn Cemetery west of Cherokee, Oklahoma.

While questions have surfaced online about the circumstances, the overwhelming tone within the rodeo world has been one of compassion rather than blame. Many have emphasized the unpredictable nature of working with large animals and the reality that ranch life carries risks that even experienced horsemen cannot always prevent.

For now, the focus remains on honoring a little girl who left an outsized impact. Though only three years old, Oaklynn Rae Domer’s life touched thousands. In arenas filled with pink, the rodeo community has shown that it grieves together, stands together, and carries one another through even the darkest moments.
