Riley Green makes acting debut as former Navy SEAL Garrett in Yellowstone spinoff Marshals, standing with brown horse by rustic barn in cowboy hat, denim jacket, and mustache in official promo image ahead of March 1 premiere.

Riley Green is officially saddling up for a ride into the Yellowstone universe.

After weeks of fan speculation and a trailer moment that sent social media into overdrive, it has now been confirmed that the country star will appear in the upcoming Yellowstone spinoff series, Marshals. The announcement first came from the show’s official social media accounts, with Variety publishing an exclusive confirming the details shortly after.

Riley Green will play Garrett, a former Navy SEAL who arrives at the ranch unexpectedly. According to the official description, Garrett hopes to lean on friends Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, and Cal, portrayed by Logan Marshall-Green, as he works to put the demons of his past to rest. The role is described as a recurring guest arc spanning multiple episodes rather than a quick cameo.

In a promotional image shared by the series online, Green stands beside a horse in front of a barn, dressed in classic cowboy attire and staring off into the distance. The look blends naturally with the rugged tone that has defined Taylor Sheridan‘s expanding television universe.

“I’m so excited to be joining the cast of Marshals,” Green said in a statement. “Being on set with my buddy Luke Grimes made the experience even more memorable. This is my first go around in the acting space and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to this world.”

The confirmation follows days of buzz sparked by a brief shot in the show’s trailer. Fans believed they spotted Green during a campfire scene where a mustached cowboy strummed a guitar. The combination of the facial hair, posture, and instrument quickly fueled speculation across TikTok, Instagram, and X. Now those suspicions have officially been validated.

Marshals continues the story of Kayce Dutton following the events of Yellowstone. The official logline explains that with the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Kayce joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals. He combines his skills as a cowboy and former Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana while balancing family life, professional duty, and the psychological toll that comes with serving as a final line of defense against violence in the region.

The ensemble cast includes Arielle Kebbel as Belle Skinner, Ash Santos as Andrea Cruz, Tatanka Means as Miles Kittle, and Brecken Merrill returning as Tate Dutton. Moses Brings Plenty and Gil Birmingham also reprise their roles from the original series, further tying the spinoff to its Yellowstone roots.

For Green, the role marks his first official acting credit. The Alabama native has long embodied a modern cowboy image through his music and stage presence, making the transition into Sheridan’s gritty western landscape feel like a natural step. He previously hinted in interviews that he had filmed a project he could not yet discuss, which only intensified speculation about his involvement.

The crossover between country music and the Yellowstone franchise has become increasingly common. Lainey Wilson memorably appeared on the flagship series, and Ryan Bingham built a significant acting presence within the universe. Green now joins that growing list of artists stepping from the stage onto the screen.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, with Taylor Sheridan among the executive producers, Marshals premieres Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. New episodes will air weekly on Sundays and stream the following day on Paramount+.

With his acting debut just days away, Riley Green is preparing to trade concert lights for Montana landscapes. Fans will not have to wait long to see how Garrett fits into Kayce Dutton’s new chapter when Marshals rides onto screens March 1.
