In 2019, Reba McEntire, the Queen of Country Music, released the track “Stronger Than the Truth” from her album of the same title. It is a song that is close to the singer’s heart. In an interview, she stated that the songs included in the album are probably the “most country music she has ever recorded.”

“Stronger Than the Truth” encapsulates the country music she grew up with. From its honky-tonk tune to its melodramatic meaning, the song shouts country music, making it one of Reba McEntire’s best releases

Because of that, it instantly became a hit with avid country lovers and new-generation listeners. The album landed at no. 4 on the US Top Country Albums (Billboard) and no.3 on the UK Country Albums (OCC).

Reba has a distinct way of capturing listeners’ hearts. Her voice truly encapsulates what country music is. With weepy steel guitars and fiddles, Reba can transform even the simplest lyric into a great country song—just like what she did with “Stronger Than the Truth.”

The song has a melodramatic tune to it that captures the emotions that it portrays. So, if you are interested in knowing the meaning behind the song, let’s dive right into it.

Meaning Behind the Song

Written by Hannah Louise Blaylock and Autumn McEntire, “Stronger Than the Truth” is a song that simply portrays the feelings of a woman who got cheated on.

The protagonist heard that her supposedly “perfect husband” had been seeing another girl. She thought that hearing the truth would liberate her, but she didn’t expect that there was no blade sharper than a lie.

With Reba’s aching vocal performance, the song instantly captured those wounded hearts who experienced the same thing.

So, if you are looking for a song to help you overcome the hurtful feelings of a breakup, you can listen to Reba McEntire’s hit song “Stronger Than the Truth” below.
