That mustache looks awfully familiar.
When CBS dropped the first official trailer for Marshals, the Yellowstone spinoff centered on Kayce Dutton, fans immediately zeroed in on one blink-and-you-miss-it moment. Around the 1 minute 39 second mark, a hat-wearing guitarist strums by a campfire beside Luke Grimes’ Kayce.
And country fans had the same reaction at once.
Is that Riley Green?
While unconfirmed by CBS, Paramount, or Green himself, the resemblance has sparked widespread speculation online. The shot is brief. His eyes are shaded by a cap. You never get a full face reveal. But the thick mustache, build, posture, and acoustic guitar have convinced a large portion of viewers that the Alabama native may have quietly entered the Yellowstone universe.
Billboard even framed it carefully in a recent headline asking, “Is the Marshals Trailer Hinting That Riley Green Is Headed to the Yellowstone Spin Off?” pointing directly to that 1:39 campfire moment.
Fans wasted no time weighing in.
“That is def Riley I know my boyfriend anywhere,” one commenter joked under the YouTube trailer.
“If that’s Riley Green then I’m watching,” another wrote.
The buzz only grew after co-star Arielle Kebbel playfully addressed the speculation in an Entertainment Tonight interview, laughing and saying, “Eagle-eyed fans have spotted Mr. Riley Green in Marshals. The news is finally out. It’s out.” She delivered it with a wink, stopping short of officially confirming anything.
That tone sums it up perfectly. It looks like him. It sounds like him. But nothing has been formally announced.
Marshals premieres March 1 on CBS and continues Kayce Dutton’s story after the Yellowstone finale. According to the official synopsis, Kayce leaves the ranch behind and joins an elite U.S. Marshals unit, blending his cowboy instincts and Navy SEAL experience to fight crime across Montana. The 13-episode first season leans heavily into action and loss, with the trailer hinting at a devastating personal blow that pushes Kayce deeper into law enforcement.
In the middle of that tension, the quiet campfire strum stands out.
If it is Riley Green, the casting would not come out of nowhere.
Green has openly discussed exploring acting. In past interviews, he admitted he has read for a couple of shows and sees acting as something that could challenge him creatively while expanding his career.
“We’ve actually kinda gone down that road a little bit,” Green previously said. “I’ve read for a couple of shows here lately. I think it is something that I would enjoy, and also something I think could help my music career.”
He has also praised how Yellowstone boosted country music’s visibility, specifically pointing to Lainey Wilson‘s breakout role.
“Doing Yellowstone was a great launching pad for Lainey,” Green said. “The country and western thing is becoming so popular through those shows that it’s really just such a great tie in.”
Taylor Sheridan‘s world has consistently blended country artists into its storytelling. Lainey Wilson became a fan favorite as Abby. Ryan Bingham’s Walker turned into a major recurring role. Bands like Whiskey Myers and Turnpike Troubadours have appeared in performance cameos.
Green fits that aesthetic naturally. The mustache. The boots. The rugged drawl. His brand already overlaps heavily with Yellowstone culture, which is exactly why fans are so quick to believe what they think they see.
Still, until CBS or Green confirms it, it remains speculation.
If it is him, the role could be anything from a brief musician cameo to something more recurring. If it is not, it is one of the strongest look-alikes the internet has spotted in a while.
Either way, viewers will not have to wait long.
When Marshals premieres March 1, fans will finally find out whether that campfire guitarist is just a familiar face or Riley Green riding into the Dutton universe for real.
