In 2020, modern country artist Billy Currington released a new single, “Seaside,” as part of his album of the same title right before we all said goodbye to summer. Immediately after its release, the song became a hit, with it being played almost everywhere making it one of Billy Currinton’s greatest hits

For those of you who probably don’t know, Billy Currington is an American country singer and songwriter who made his debut in 2003. Ever since the start of his career, Billy has proved he is indeed one of the rising country artists of this century. With six albums released as of 2024, eighteen of Billy’s singles have landed the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay Charts.

What sets Billy apart from the other new artists is the fact that he loves trying new singing styles to give his listeners fresh music to look forward to.

Meaning Behind the Song

Written by Billy Currington, together with Jordan Schmidt and Steven Lee Olson, “Seaside” is simply a song that talks about making the most out of summer, not thinking about any problems at all.

Since Billy grew up in Georgia and is known as an avid surfer, there is no doubt that this song is closer to his heart than most think. According to reports, Billy did mention that he drew the song’s inspiration from a “morning of blues skies, light winds, and waves rolling into the beautiful island of Tybee,” which is a place he loves going to when he visits home.
