Everyone loves George Jones. He’s a legend in country music, and his talent is incomparable. We know of many songs that he popularized such as “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” “The Race Is On,” “White Lightnin’,” and more. He even has one of the best country songs of all time. Jones’ music became an inspiration to many artists, even singers from other genres. That is why we often hear other artists making covers of a George Jones classic.

One particular artist that Jones inspired was Aaron Neville. Aaron Neville is not a country singer, he’s an excellent soul and R&B musician. His songs are breathtaking, and his voice perfectly fits the genre of music he is known for. However, can you imagine an R&B singer singing a George Jones song? Chart Performance of Aaron Neville

In 1993, Aaron Neville covered the poignant song, “The Grand Tour” for his same-titled album. On the same year, Neville released the song as a single, and it gave him his first song on the country chart. He was the only artist who released a rendition of “The Grand Tour” and he made it enter the Billboard chart. Neville’s version reached number thirty-eight on the country chart. Furthermore, it crossed over to the pop chart at number ninety. 

Aaron Neville’s Album

The Grand Tour Album of Neville was the only album in his career that was platinum-certified by RIAA. Furthermore, his album also secured a spot on the pop album chart of the Billboard.

“The Grand Tour”

“The Grand Tour” has been one of Jones hit singles. It placed at number one on the Billboard country chart. Furthermore, his single was produced by his longtime producer and friend Billy Sherrill. The song was penned by Norro Wilson, Carmol Taylor, and George Richey.
