What better way to see God than through the eyes of our heart? While seeing the Almighty is beyond the capacity of our human eyes, there can be possible ways for us to recognize the presence of our Creator. In fact, He manifests Himself to us in various ways. We often fail to notice it as we are focused on the worldly things, those that our eyes literally see. If we take some time to have a profound reflection on our day to day activities and asked God’s intervention, we’ll be able to realize that He’s been with us all the time. To help deepen our reflection and drive us closer to the reality of God’s presence in our life, let’s listen to the song “Open the Eyes of My Heart.”

Below is a touching version from the country star Randy Travis.

About the Song

“Open the Eyes of My Heart” came to life as a song through Paul Baloche who wrote the lyrics. The beautiful outcome reflects Baloche’s talent in composing music. His inspiration for the tune came from the book of Ephesians, found particularly in 1:18 which says:

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened inorder that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.

The above passage was part of Apostle Paul’s letter and he’s addressing it to the Ephesians. When Baloche put the Biblical verse into a song, he wrote it from the first person’s point of view. That way, it becomes more of  a personal prayer. And it’s verypowerful as it connects us directly to God.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord

Openthe eyes of my heart

Iwant to see you

To Him, nothing would sound sweeter than hearing those words from His children, asking Him to intervene in their lives. While the song features very simple lyrics, it conveys a great message. The song can be everyone’s prayer, especially those seeking enlightenment. As the world we live in gets dominated by evil, the worldly influence grows stronger, trying to blind us. We really need to cling to God’s saving hands and asked Him to open the eyes of our hearts in order for us to see the beauty of life. And when you’re wandering on a long, dark road, call on Him to bring you light.

Once again, let’s listen to the song, this time from Baloche’s vocals.
