Five-man acapella group Home Free once again delivered their rendition of “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive,” a great classic from Travis Tritt. The song was released in December 2000 from Tritt’s album Down the Road I Go, peaking at the no. 2 spot in the US Billboard Hot Country chart.

Ever since Home Free started in 2013, they have released 12 albums, two of which are Christmas albums. Other famous Home Free renditions include “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver, Kane Brown’s “Heaven,” Vince Hill’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain,” and “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” by Charlie Daniels.

What The Song Tells Us

Home Free’s tenor, Austin Brown, leads the vocals in their version. In their music video with 1.6 million views, he is seen taking a stroll through the trees and fallen leaves, sitting on the stairs and by the fire, and sipping from a cup (maybe that’s coffee). Watching the video makes you feel a sense of calmness and positivity, perfect when you’re about to start the day.

The song gives off an uplifting energy that will make one happy and radiant whenever the music plays. It makes you feel carefree even for a while: just enjoying the song, the melodic harmony of the men’s voices, and the overall message of the music itself.

Although problems will arise along the way, it is still vital to value life as it is and be happy being alive. There are many reasons, big or small, that people find happiness. In the song’s lyrics, he’s doing alright even though he didn’t shave his three-day beard. He’s going to get a new tattoo, take out his bike for a cruise, and even grow a Fu Manchu mustache.

Giving this song a few minutes of your time might have you thinking about being happy over little things, treasuring moments with loved ones, and wondering how great life is despite the challenges that you encounter within yourself.

Listen to the lovely harmonies of Home Free’s “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive” here and feel good throughout the day.
