Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ “I Remember Everything” is the number one song on the list of top 40 country songs for December 2023. It’s a very special track for the two musicians as the song launched at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100, marking both artists’ first trip to the summit of the chart. Now, it’s being nominated for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

Morgan Wallen, who also has a record-breaking success this year, sits in the second and third spots with his singles “Last Night” and “Thinkin’ Bout Me.” His song “Everything I Love” also made it to the Top 15.

Well, you will find so many great tracks in this list, so let’s get the ball rolling! Here are the top 40 country songs for December 2023.

1. I Remember Everything by Zach Bryan, Featuring Kacey Musgraves

This nostalgic lost-love song, “I Remember Everything”, is one of the three collaborative tracks on Zach Bryan’s self-titled album

What makes it stand out is Bryan’s signature painstakingly simple yet poetic lyricism, blending with Kacey Musgraves’ velvety vocals as they tell the story of a couple reminiscing about their relationship, each recounting their memories from tragically different perspectives.

2. Last Night by Morgan Wallen

Since Morgan Wallen dropped his sprawling, 36-song album, One Thing At A Time, he has resumed his position as the king of the country charts. He continued his impressive run with “Last Night,” which was Wallen’s first song to have reached the peak of the Billboard Hot 100. Now, the song continues to steal the hearts of many listeners.

3. Thinkin’ Bout Me by Morgan Wallen

Here’s another heartfelt ballad by Morgan Wallen where he dives deep into a post-breakup scenario and wonders if his then-lover thinks of him whenever she’s with her new man. “Thinkin’ Bout Me” is definitely a relatable jam that feels like a friendly heart-to-heart with a catchy beat!

4. Fast Car by Luke Combs

How Luke Combs captured the essence of Tracy Chapman’s original version while infusing his own country style and emotive vocals continues to impress many listeners. His version maintains the song’s nostalgic feel while adding a fresh perspective, making it a compelling addition to his repertoire.

5. Need a Favor by Jelly Roll

Jelly Roll is never really afraid to bare himself as he sings about themes of struggle, redemption, and personal growth through the honest lyrics of “Need A Favor.” It’s no surprise the song resonated with several fans through its raw authenticity and relatable storytelling.

6. Save Me by Jelly Roll with Lainey Wilson

Meanwhile, Jelly Roll enlisted Lainey Wilson in a powerful collaboration for “Save Me,” which originally appeared on his independent album, Self-Medicated, in 2020 and was one of his earliest ventures into pure singing apart from his usual rap style.

In the new version, Jelly Roll’s raw, rock-infused essence was fused with Wilson’s twangy, R&B-inflected country vibes – and it’s just breathtaking.

7. White Horse by Chris Stapleton

It’s amazing how Chris Stapleton brought his gritty vocals to new heights against a backdrop of fiery guitar riffs and hard-hitting drum beats that transition into a classic country style in this song. As a result, “White Horse” broke several records during its release.

8. World On Fire by Nate Smith

If Nate Smith’s powerful voice didn’t catch your attention during his first radio hit, get ready to be blown away by “World on Fire,” which tells a breakup story of a man who can’t shake off memories of a love that turned sour.

9. Pretty Little Poison by Warren Zeiders

Warren Zeiders may be a country newcomer, but he didn’t have to convince many people he felt what he sang in “Pretty Little Poison,” which found him entangled in a toxic relationship despite its hazards.

10. Can’t Have Mine by Dylan Scott

If you haven’t found the one yet, then you might get some good advice and a warning from Dylan Scott’s “Can’t Have Mine.” The song resonates with folks everywhere as they play it while reminiscing about finding their perfect and irreplaceable partner.

11. Wild Ones by Jessie Murph & Jelly Roll

Jelly Roll and Jessie Murph collaborated in this high-energy anthem, making the perfect fusion of hip-hop, country, and rock that Jelly Roll has cultivated in recent years. So, every listener who enjoys genre-blending music would surely love this.

12. Everything I Love by Morgan Wallen

Morgan Wallen’s “Everything I Love” absolutely resonates with its emotional depth and Wallen’s soulful delivery, striking a chord with listeners who have experienced similar heartache. In the song, Wallen delves into the aftermath of a breakup and the realization that everything he loves seems to remind him of the person he has lost.

13. Truck Bed by HARDY

Hardy is once again singing another story of drunken mishaps in “Truck Bed,” where he describes the aftermath of heavy drinking that led him to be kicked to the curb by his lover. He realizes he messed up badly and understands he deserves some serious consequences.

14. The Painter by Cody Johnson

Cody Johnson released “The Painter” as the lead single from his third major-label studio album, Leather – and it’s quickly becoming his signature song. Though he did not write this sweet, heartwarming ballad himself, Johnson said the song serves as another intimate love letter to his wife.

15. Try That In A Small Town by Jason Aldean

Earlier this year, Jason Aldean stirred up quite a fuss with his song “Try That In a Small Town.” The song’s lyrics and the video it came with made big news and caused some controversy. Still, it has become Aldean’s first No. 1 hit on the country charts since 2014 and even his biggest hit on the pop charts.
