On August 25, 2023, Zach Bryan released his highly anticipated self-titled album, which showcased an exceptional collaboration with fellow country star Kacey Musgraves. The somber duet titled “I Remember Everything” was the most talked-about track on Bryan’s celebrated project and was an immediate hit!

The song debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100, becoming both Bryan and Musgraves’s first No. 1 song. It also hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.

Meaning Behind The Song

Before Zach Bryan released “I Remember Everything,” he teased fans with its title and a snippet of him playing the song while putting some finishing touches. However, the title sparked confusion by one of John Prine‘s posthumous ballads of the same name. Bryan explained that he wanted to change the song’s title but went with it in the end as the change did not “sit right” with him.

Fans didn’t also know that the Oklahoma native had a blockbuster twist up his sleeve. When he revealed the tracklist of his self-titled album, it was confirmed that the official studio version would feature Kacey Musgraves

Written by Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves, “I Remember Everything” finds the two talented country artists playing the role of former lovers reminiscing memories of a relationship from tragically different viewpoints.

They paid tribute to the fleeting moments of pleasure they got to experience and, at the same time, acknowledged the reasons why things took a turn for the worse.

Bryan opened the song accompanied by just an acoustic guitar. He led the chorus before Musgraves joined in with her silky voice to continue the storyline full of raw emotion and haunting melodies. You will definitely feel like you’re in their world.

Tune in and listen to Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’s somber duet of “I Remember Everything” by playing the video below.
