Alison Krauss and Robert Plant’s second record collaboration ‘Raise the Roof’ swept headlines after the duo announced it last week, Thursday. The highly-anticipated album is a follow-up of their 2007 platinum and sixfold Grammy award winning LP ‘Raising Sand’. Alongside Krauss and Plant is producer T-Bone Burnett who also worked with them in the previous record.

Raise the Roof’ will drop on November 19 from Rounder Records, and we’ll soon hear new Alison Krauss hits. The 12-track LP includes the now-released leadoff single, a cover of 1998 Lucinda Williams’ “Can’t Let Go,” an original Plant-Burnett song titled “High and Lonesome,” and cover tracks from the catalogs of Calexico, Merle Haggard, Allen Touissant, The Everly Brothers, Bert Jansch, and many more.

Rumors of the follow-up record have swirled for years, and they tried to cut one with producer Daniel Lanois, but they ended up shelving the project. Until Krauss heard Calexico’s “Quattro (World Drifts In)” that she finally felt that it was time to make another album. So, they started bringing people in and coming back together in the studio. They were joined in by guitarists Marc Ribot, David Hidalgo, Bill Frisell, and Buddy Miller, as well as pedal steel guitarist Russ Pahl. Drummer Jay Bellerose and bassists Dennis Crouch and Viktor Krauss were also part of the line-up.

Raise the Roof Tracklist:

1. Quattro (World Drifts In)

2. The Price of Love

3. Go Your Way

4. Trouble With My Lover

5. Searching for My Love

6. Can’t Let Go

7. It Don’t Bother Me

8. You Led Me to the Wrong

9. Last Kind Words Blues

10. High and Lonesome

11. Going Where the Lonely Go

Alison Krauss and Robert Plant are planning to tour in 2022. But while we wait for the LP release and the tour, let’s listen to their single “Can’t Let Go.”
