Everyone wants to know why Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO are getting divorced. The court documents have an answer, but it’s not the one fans were hoping for.
According to filings obtained by Taste of Country and confirmed by Fox News Digital, Jelly Roll cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. No allegations, no accusations, no specific detail. Just the most standard legal language a divorce filing can use.
The filings suggest a “Marital Dissolution Agreement that provides for an equitable division of the parties’ assets and apportions responsibility for payment of the parties’ debts.” Both sides are aiming for a clean, fair split.
However, Jelly Roll reserved the right to amend his complaint and “allege additional grounds for divorce” if they can’t reach an agreement. That language means the filing could change if negotiations break down, and more specific reasons could surface later.
The Timeline the Documents Reveal
The separation date is listed as May 9, 2026. Jelly Roll filed nine days later on May 18. That’s a fast turnaround, which suggests the decision was likely made before May 9 and the paperwork was a formality.
A Standard Domestic Scheduling Order was filed on May 14, four days before the complaint. The legal process was already in motion mid-month.
A Statutory Restraining Order was also included, which is standard in Tennessee divorce proceedings and prevents either party from concealing finances or relocating children during the process.
Bunnie’s last Instagram post featuring Jelly Roll was on May 8, a Mother’s Day video with Bailee at prom. They separated the following day. Their 10th wedding anniversary would have been this August.
The 2026 ACM Awards were held May 17 in Las Vegas. Jelly Roll was nominated for Entertainer of the Year for the third straight year. He skipped the ceremony without explanation. He filed the next morning. Looking back, his absence makes a lot more sense now.
Sources told TMZ the divorce was mutual and a private family matter. Neither side has commented publicly on the documents or the reason behind the split.
The filing tells you what happened, when it happened, and how they want to handle it. What it doesn’t tell you is why two people who renewed their vows in 2023 and were planning for twins through a surrogate as recently as February couldn’t make it to their 10th anniversary. That answer isn’t in the paperwork, and right now, neither of them is offering one.
