The music legend, Willie Nelson, releases new music and an upcoming album. The song “Ride Me Back Home” will also be the name of the album that he will release on June 21 this year.
The song was penned by the singer and his fellow Texan and Music Row journeyman, Sonny Throckmorton.
Willie Nelson To the Rescue
The album’s producer, Buddy Cannon, had this to say about the song:
“Sonny said he wrote that song because he was over there and saw Willie’s horses. I don’t even know if Willie knows that or not.”
Sonny lives next to Nelson’s studio, so he saw the horses that were rescued by the singer. He thought that it would be a good idea to write something about it.
Willie Nelson shared his thoughts about his love for horses:
“My horses are probably the luckiest horses in the world. They get hand-fed twice a day, and they were just ready to go to slaughter is probably the last thing they remembered, so they’re happy horses.”
And so, the song was born.

It showcased the traditional sound of country music that we rarely see from today’s music. It also shows how Willie Nelson really loves his horses.
