Three-time Grammy Award winner Tim McGraw is one of the most perennially successful and most recognized artists in country music. He has been producing hits after hits since he first walked into Nashville.

But today, we’re not going to talk about his illustrious musical career, and we’re going to dig a little deeper into his personal life through these interesting facts we bet you may not have heard yet. Keep on scrolling below to find out.

1. He’s a native of Delhi, Louisiana.

Born as Samuel Timothy McGraw on May 1, 1967, McGraw’s childhood features a few twists and turns. He was raised by his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” D’Agostino, and grew up believing his stepfather, Horace Smith, was his biological father. He was 11 when he stumbled upon his birth certificate and found out who his biological father was.

2. His biological father was a major league baseball player.

This led to the next fact that many fans may not know. McGraw’s birth certificate indicated that his father was a professional baseball star, Tug McGraw. He was a Major League Baseball player who pitched for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies.

3. He also tried his hand on baseball.

McGraw grew up playing competitive sports such as baseball. He even got into Northeast Louisiana University through a baseball scholarship. We may never have had the chance to enjoy Tim McGraw songs today if it wasn’t for a knee injury he had while playing baseball, stopping him from pursuing a professional career in sports.

4. He majored in pre-law.

Inspired by the 1979 legal drama film …And Justice for All, which starred Al Pacino, McGraw attended college as a pre-law major. However, it was cut short when he picked up a guitar and started playing music. McGraw sold everything he had and moved to Nashville to chase after his musical dreams.

5. He’s a certified private pilot.

Flying is said to be the country star’s favorite past-time. He even regularly flies his own Cirrus SR22, which has been customized to match his tattoos. There’s also his wife’s name, Faith, detailed on it.

6. He has a massive collection of hats.

In 2014, McGraw became a Headwear Hall of Famer. But did you know that there’s more to his cowboy hats than being part of his music?

McGraw actually revealed why he’s never been comfortable without a hat. “I have what I call a ‘fivehead.’ I don’t have a forehead. I have a fivehead,” the singer said. Yes, he’s quite conscious about the size of his melon, but this insecurity is not stopping him. He said he’s getting comfortable with himself as he gets older.

7. He and his wife, Faith Hill, used to own a private island estate in the Bahamas.

When the power couple went looking for a slice of paradise, they found this island in the Bahamas called L’île d’Anges – which they purchased in 2003. It comprises 19.77 acres and offers nearly 1.3 miles of waterfront property.

8. He sleeps naked.

It turns out McGraw can’t sleep with anything on him.

So, how do you find these facts about our favorite country star Tim McGraw?
