If you are looking for a song that will make you realize the true meaning of understanding one another and spreading peace and unity with everyone, Vince Gill’s “Let There Be Peace on Earth” is perfect for you. The International Children’s Choir of the Granger Dance Academy in Long Beach, California, was the first group to perform the song written in 1955 by Jill Jackson-Miller and Sy Miller.

Many years later, Vince Gill released a version of “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” contributing to its increased popularity. This cover was more special since Vince recorded it with his daughter, Jenny Gill. With their amazing performance of the timeless hit, the father-daughter duo returned it to the album rankings!

Meaning Behind The Song

The lovely song originated in 1945, following Jill Jackson’s recovery from a terrible phase. Sy Miller, her husband, composed the melody, and Jill Jackson wrote the lyrics. Jill said that following her suicide attempt, she had a realization of God’s true, unconditional love.

“I had an eternal moment of truth, in which I knew I was loved, and I knew I was here for a purpose.” Jill stated.

The idea that true development and change begin in each person’s heart is the foundation of the song’s message. It encourages people to set aside their differences and strive for peace, empathy, and understanding.

Because of this, Vince Gill was inspired to re-record the song. He was so moved by the lyrics that he wanted to use his voice and interpretation to spread them worldwide. The song ultimately became the lead single off his Christmas album, topping the Billboard list and turning into one of Vince Gill’s greatest hits.

Vince Gill’s “Let There Be Peace on Earth” conveyed understanding and seeking inner peace. It’s a song that will indeed heal one’s mind and soul, giving rest to the weary and strengthening one’s faith in the Almighty.
