Alan Jackson’s “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” is a song not to remind us of the hurt, the painful experience, and misery we’ve been through in 9/11. Instead, it is a reminder of how we stood ground and how we helped each other on the very day of the downfall. It is also the day where people uplifted one another from country to country. Most of all, the song will hark back that at some point, we people from different races, religions, and places, came as one.

Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)…

Alan Jackson, himself, carefully and masterfully wrote the words and lyrics of “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning).” He wanted to depict the emotions surrounding the attack. Nevertheless, he wasn’t fully able to do so since it was difficult. Instead, he portrayed reactions in the form of questions. Those questions undeniably touched the hearts and souls of the listeners.

On a lighter side, the song received a massive response. It was part of Alan Jackson’s album “Drive” which topped the Billboard country charts. “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Moreover, “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” won several awards from the Academy of Country Music Awards and Country Music Association Awards. The top awards were “Song of the Year” and Alan Jackson’s very first Grammy Award for “Best Country Song.”
