Hank Williams Jr., Kid Rock, and Miranda Lambert in one “Family Tradition” – is there any more we could ask for?

In 2021, Billy Bob’s Texas kicked off a month-long celebration for its 40th Anniversary. Several country superstars then graced the iconic Texas venue – and during the weekend, Hank Williams Jr. headlined back-to-back nights at the world’s largest honky-tonk.

It was actually Williams Jr.’s first show at the country music nightclub since 1986. So, to celebrate his comeback, he made sure to bring along with him a few of his famous friends. He took center stage, and was joined by not just one but two additional headliners to help him sing the famous “Family Tradition.”

Williams Jr. was joined by Kid Rock, Miranda Lambert, as well as his son Sam Williams for a grand finale performance. And we’re so lucky a fan caught the fun-loving moment in a video. The performance began with Williams Jr. sharing the stage with Kid Rock. They then called up Lambert – who Kid Rock introduced as a “Texas hero.”

The trio, together with Sam Williams, then went on trading vocals, taking verses in turn.

One Of The Most Popular Songs Of Hank Williams Jr.

Written by Hank Williams Jr., “Family Tradition” was the country star’s statement of rebellion, forging his own style – especially in response to those who condemned him for making a move from countrypolitan and covers of his father’s songs. At the same time, Williams Jr. states how delighted and thrilled he is to be part of his father’s musical legacy.

The song was released in 1979 as the final single off his album of the same name. It was such a hit, reaching No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

Anyway, make sure to watch Hank Williams Jr. sharing the stage with Kid Rock and Miranda Lambert in an extremely impressive performance.
