Bo Bryan spent three years waiting for his Friday nights.
The son of Luke Bryan sat behind a Mr. Football winner at Battle Ground Academy, and when the quarterback job finally became his this fall, he turned it into a run at Mr. Football himself.
That run was interrupted early on Friday night, Oct. 16. On the Wildcats’ first offensive drive against Pope John Paul II, the 18-year-old was sacked and landed hard on his right shoulder. With the game still scoreless in the first quarter, he came back to the sideline with his pads off, his right arm in a sling and his shoulder heavily wrapped.
He said he would get an X-ray right after the game to find out how serious it was. On Saturday, he gave everyone the answer on his Instagram story.
“Broke my collarbone last night,” he wrote.
He thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers and said he will need some time away from football to heal. How long he will be off the field is still not clear.
Bo Bryan Waited Three Years Behind Kaedyn Marable Before His Senior Season Took Off
For three seasons, Bo played behind Kaedyn Marable, the former BGA standout who won Mr. Football. As a reserve in 2025, he threw for 336 yards and five touchdowns.
When the starting job finally came this fall, he made the most of it. Through seven games of his first full season as the starter, Bo completed 74% of his passes for 2,006 yards and 30 touchdowns with three interceptions, and he led the Wildcats to a 6-1 record.

That put him among the leading contenders for Tennessee’s Division II-AA Mr. Football award, the kind of honor the quarterback ahead of him had already taken home.
Two straight weeks showed what all that waiting had built. On Sept. 25, he set career highs with 409 passing yards and six touchdowns in a 41-36 win over Franklin Road Academy. A week later, he threw seven touchdown passes in a 56-7 win over Davidson Academy.
Seven touchdown passes in one night is the kind of game a quarterback waits three years to have.
Luke Bryan Cleared His Fridays This Fall to Watch Bo’s Senior Season
Bo is the older of the two sons Luke Bryan shares with his wife, Caroline. Luke took his Friday nights off the stage to watch Bo play, and he explained why on Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton.

“Bo is playing high school football. I try to take every Friday off so I can see him play,” he said.
“Bo has been driving, so we don’t see him as much anymore,” he added, and then he thought about the year after this one.
“I don’t know what we’re going to do when he goes off to college,” he said.
College is where this senior season was pointing. Bo is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports, with offers that include Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, North Alabama and UT Martin. On March 27, he posted on X that he was blessed to receive his first D1 offer, from North Alabama.
His team kept playing after he left the field against Pope John Paul II. Maximus Curry, a four-star wide receiver in the class of 2028, lined up at quarterback for the first time and led BGA to a 35-0 win. The schedule had Goodpasture coming to BGA on Oct. 23 and a trip to Grace Christian Academy on Oct. 30.
The quarterback who waited three years for his senior season got seven games of it before that first-drive sack, and he closed his Saturday Instagram story with four words.
“We will be back,” he wrote.
