In the Spring of 2019, Naomi Bristow’s Easter version of “Hallelujah” took Facebook by storm, reaching fourteen million views.

Bristow, a young cowgirl hailing from a small farm in Ontario, delivers a beautiful rendition of the song, which describes the immense pain Jesus suffered for us. It was such a beautiful reminder of Jesus’ terrible agony and the retribution he took for us on the cross, so we can all be set free from the curse of sin.

But this wasn’t the first time Naomi Bristow caught everyone’s attention. In fact, she won the Traditional Female Rising Star award during the 2017 Josie Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. Also, among the numerous awards she received in the past years, Naomi cherishes the Fans Choice Award at the Havelock Country Jamboree, The Breezeway 2020/2021 Female Entertainer of the Year, among others.

For the past fifteen years, the young artist has traveled throughout the countryside in the United States and Canada, performing for thousands. Her love for traditional country music led her to self-taught yodeling that she always showcases in her performances. And as expected, it is being rewarded with admiration from folks of every age.

Story Behind The Song

Written and originally recorded by Leonard Cohen in 1984, “Hallelujah” has been renowned worldwide for how nicely it sounds and the beautiful message it delivers. But in 2006, singer-songwriter Kelley Mooney changed the lyrics of the popular “Hallelujah” to tell the Easter Story.

When she started singing her lyrical adaptation in public, she soon received requests to sing the classic song at funerals and church services. In 2007, Mooney sang her version of “Hallelujah” in front of 2,000 people at the Charlottetown Civic Centre during the Belfast Revival, and she received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Meanwhile, Naomi Bristow delivered the same intensity. You can listen to Naomi Bristow’s “Hallelujah” in the video below.
