Born and raised in the small prairie town of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Arts grew up listening to country music. And believe it or not, she started writing her own songs when she was only thirteen. Indeed, she’s born to be a star! Check out below some of the best songs within her young career.

1. “Cold Feet”

From: Rebel Child (2017)

Released as Arts’ debut single, “Cold Feet” earned praise from music critics. The emotionally driven ballad tells the tale of a struggling woman making a choice between her former lover and the man she’s about to marry. She then finds herself questioning her happiness within both conditions.

Arts admitted that she fell in love with the song’s great story the first time she heard it. “I thought it was like a Nicholas Sparks book in a song,” she said.

2. “Moment of Weakness”

From: Rebel Child (2017)

Three days after the song’s release, it was featured in an episode of the top-rated ABC show, The Bachelor – gaining exposure and media coverage. As a result, “Moment of Weakness” made it to the Top Ten of Canada’s country music charts and, of course, generated a renewed interest in her debut studio album.

An acoustic version of the song was also included in the deluxe edition of Rebel Child.

3. “Raindrops, Dirt Roads”

From: Rebel Child (2017)

The reflective song about meeting the right person at the wrong time took home Songwriter of the Year at the 2018 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards.

4. “Somebody Like That”

From: Love, Heartbreak, & Everything in Between (2020)

Co-written by the track’s producer Alex Kline, “Somebody Like That” made history in 2021 for being the first song to reach the top 15 of American country radio that’s produced by a solo female producer and performed by a female artist.

A few months later, the song peaked at No. 9 on Billboard’s Canada Country chart, making it Arts’ highest- charting song in her country to date. It also peaked at No. 3 on Billboard Country Airplay.

According to Arts, they wrote the song wanting to get away from break-up songs and give love a positive outlook. So, they created something about an epic love that lasts a lifetime.

5. “Give It to Me Straight”

From: Girl to Girl (2021)

“Give It to Me Straight” is a song that comes before breaking up. It is about “when you just want someone to cut to the chase and tell you why you’re really breaking up,” Arts said.

6. “Back Then, Right Now”

From: Girl to Girl (2021)

“Back Then, Right Now” is the follow-up single to her historic breakout hit “Somebody Like That.” In this song, she offers a lyrical joyride as she revisits warm memories of times gone by. It absolutely makes nostalgia sound so very sweet where she brings to mind crisp images of the carefree days and simpler life that will absolutely make you miss your younger days.

7. “Everybody Knows Everybody”

From: Love, Heartbreak, & Everything in Between (2020)

Arts celebrate small-town life in “Everybody Knows Everybody,” which she co-wrote with her frequent collaborators, Allison Veltz Cruz and Alex Kline.

Arts said they wanted to write a fun song with her co-writers at that time, so they asked her about her hometown and what it was like growing up in such a small town – and it was enough to spark the whole thing. The country star admits that she “really actually experienced” most of what she sings in this song while growing up in the Canadian town of Weyburn, Saskatchewan.

8. “Slow It Down”

From: Love, Heartbreak, & Everything in Between (2020)

The waltz-like ballad finds Arts letting love unfold naturally and linger. “Take the clock and throw it out, make a minute feel like ten like it’s never gonna end,” she sings.

9. “Another Life”

From: Love, Heartbreak, & Everything in Between (2020)

Art’s vulnerable vocals are just undeniable in this song. The heart-wrenching song finds the country star exploring all the possible reasons that led to the end of her relationship.

10. “Nothing To See Here”

From: Love, Heartbreak, & Everything in Between (2020)

There may be plenty of country songs about falling in love with a small town, but this one’s a real stand-out where Arts’ showcased how versatile she is. You will feel the pain, frustration, and resentment in her voice as she sings about how she can never escape the memories in her hometown despite there being nothing to see.
