A honky tonk thriller with Miranda Lambert at the helm? Yes, please.
The queen of country grit is officially stepping into the world of television. Miranda Lambert has signed on as executive producer for a brand-new scripted series coming to Hulu, and the premise already sounds like pure gold. Think Big Little Lies but with more twang, more secrets, and a Texas-sized serving of drama. The show is still untitled, but it is already being described as “Big Little Lies gone honky tonk.” That is all we needed to hear.
The series will follow two women trying to outrun a violent past. One helps the other escape an abusive marriage, and they set out for a fresh start in a small Texas town. But instead of peace and quiet, they find that the town has just as many skeletons as they do. In true Miranda fashion, nothing is simple, and everybody’s hiding something.
Miranda will work alongside showrunner and writer Judalina Neira, who is producing under her overall deal with Sony Pictures Television. Lambert is also producing through Shopkeeper Management, her longtime management company. While no air date has been set yet, the buzz is already building. And knowing Miranda, she will make sure the music, the characters, and the setting all hit just as hard as her lyrics.
This is not a far stretch for Miranda, who grew up in East Texas with parents who worked as private investigators. She has always been a natural-born storyteller, pulling inspiration from real-life crime and heartbreak. Her songs, such as “Gunpowder and Lead” and “Kerosene,” were not just hits. They were cautionary tales, southern folklore, and battle cries all wrapped in one.
Now, she is bringing that same storytelling spirit to the screen. And honestly, who better to tell stories of southern women surviving, fighting back, and chasing redemption than Miranda Lambert?
This new project comes while Miranda is juggling just about everything. She recently released “Postcards from Texas,” a critically acclaimed album that scored her four Grammy nominations, including Best Contemporary Country Album and Best Country Song for “A Song to Sing.” She is also nominated for Best Country Duo with Chris Stapleton and again with Reba McEntire and Lainey Wilson for “Trailblazer.”
And that is not all. She is mentoring up-and-coming artists with Big Loud Texas, working with Ella Langley on new music, and still running her Mutt Nation Foundation and Idyllwind clothing line. That is a full plate, but if anyone can handle it, it is Miranda.
The truth is, Miranda Lambert has never been one to stay in one lane. She writes songs that sound like movies, and now she is ready to turn them into one. Whether it is a hell-raising anthem or a whispered ballad, her words always carry weight. And now they will come to life on one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world.
So when the credits roll and that opening scene hits, do not be surprised if you hear a few familiar lines and recognize the fire in the characters’ eyes. Because this show will not just be inspired by Miranda Lambert’s songs. It will be fueled by them.
This is country storytelling at its finest. And Miranda is just getting started.
