There is high demand, and then there is George Strait demand.
The King of Country just proved again that when he announces a show in Texas, fans will come running. That was 140,000 of them, to be exact. That is how many eager fans flooded the presale queue when Strait first dropped two limited dates at Austin’s Moody Center for April 9 and 11. After the dust settled, it was clear that two nights were not nearly enough.
So what did King George do? He gave the people what they wanted.
Strait has officially added two more nights at the Moody Center on May 15 and 16, turning what was already a hot-ticket weekend into a four-show Texas residency. The presale for the new dates starts Wednesday, January 28, at 10 a.m. Central Time, and general tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, January 30, at 10 a.m. local time through GeorgeStrait.com. If you’re lucky enough to get in, consider it a win.
The new dates will feature rising country star Carter Faith as the opener. William Beckmann will hold down support duties for the April shows. Either way, fans are in for a hell of a time. This is not your average arena show. Strait is performing in the round, which means center stage and surrounded by fans on all sides. That makes this about as intimate as it gets for a living legend who regularly commands stadium crowds.
Speaking of stadiums, if you missed the chaos at Kyle Field in 2024, then you know what kind of numbers Strait still pulls. That show brought in a staggering 110,905 people and became one of the largest single-ticketed concerts in United States history. That was not just a fluke. He followed it up with five more major shows in 2025 across stadiums in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Foxborough, and Los Angeles.
At this point, George Strait does not tour. He makes appearances. When he does, it becomes a full-on event.
That is what makes this Austin run so special. For fans who want to see him up close and personal, this is a rare shot. The Moody Center may be one of the newer venues in the Lone Star State, but when Strait steps on that stage, it becomes sacred ground.
Now more than 40 years into his legendary career, Strait remains the undisputed heavyweight of country music. He has sold more than 100 million certified albums and has a jaw-dropping 27 number-one albums on the Billboard Country chart. He is not just still relevant. He is still raising the bar.
He could easily ride off into the sunset. Instead, he is saddling up for another round, proving that age, legacy, and humility make one hell of a combination. Every Strait show feels like a celebration. It is not just of his music but of country music’s roots, grit and timeless appeal.
If you are lucky enough to grab tickets, you are not just seeing a concert. You are witnessing a piece of country music history still being written.
George Strait in Austin. Four nights. One King. Better move fast because seats will not last.
