In a rare video found by Country Thang Daily, we see the sorrow of unspoken tears brought by Eric Clapton and his then debut song, Tears in Heaven, which was first released in the year 1992.

Tears in Heaven, Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton is an English rock and blues icon and an extremely talented guitarist of his time. Without a doubt, his music has touched many lives and ‘Tears in Heaven’ is one of his songs that expressed many definitions of a person who might have lost someone they love.

On top of that, Eric Clapton is an admitted recovering addict during the early stages of his career and in 1998 he gave back to the community by founding Crossroads Centre on Antigua, a medical facility for recovering substance abusers.

The story behind ‘Tears in Heaven’ was a tragic inspiration of his son’s death, Conor who died in 1991 because of an unfortunate accident after 4-year old Conor fell out of the 53rd floor of Manhattan building.

“Tears In Heaven” Lyrics

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I’ll find my way
Through night and day
‘Cause I know I just can’t stay
Here in heaven

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please, begging please

Beyond the door
There’s peace I’m sure
And I know there’ll be no more
Tears in heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on
‘Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven
