The cake was built around If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and Ollie McCreery did not hold back.
Somewhere in the middle of Gabi McCreery’s birthday slideshow, there he is, after digging into that cake, giving his big brother, Avery, the silliest look.
Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi, celebrated their youngest son’s first birthday last month, and on October 8 Gabi finally shared the photos.
“Celebrated our sweet Ollie last month,” she wrote. “One whole year with the sweetest gift, thanking God for the joy he’s brought into our lives!”
Oliver “Ollie” Cooke McCreery was born on September 18, 2025. When they announced his arrival, the couple wrote that they could not imagine life without him and loved him so berry much.
The McCreery Boys Carry Names From Both Sides of the Family
Look closely at the names and you will find the family tree. Ollie’s middle name is Cooke, the same as Scotty’s own middle name and his mother Judy’s maiden name.
His big brother got his name from the other side. Merrick “Avery” McCreery, born October 24, 2022, is named for Gabi’s father, Merrick Dugal III. Avery arrived 11 days early, at 4:34 in the morning, and Scotty told fans then that he had never known a love like this.

So the family tree shows up in both boys’ names, from both sides.
Avery’s first birthday got its own theme too. His parents threw him a Toy Story party and dressed up as Woody and Jesse, and the little guy clapped along when the crowd finished singing to him.
That first year, Avery hiked Zion National Park, spent beach days on the North Carolina shore and went to New England Patriots games with his dad, the two of them in personalized jerseys they wear on game day. He even tagged along with his mom when Scotty stopped by Good Morning America.
October Is a Big Month in the McCreery House
Scotty and Gabi have known each other since they were young, and they married on June 16, 2018, in the mountains of Ashe County. Scotty proposed in 2017, years after they first met, and he has never been shy about putting his family front and center. He brought Avery onstage when he was just three months old.
Fall is full of birthdays in their house. Ollie turned 1 in September, Scotty turned 33 on October 9, and Avery turns 4 on October 24.
It is a big year on the music side too. This is the 15th anniversary of Scotty winning American Idol, and he marked it with a July album called 15, with a new song, “Been a Good Run,” and a duet of “Your Man” with his hero, Josh Turner.
Scotty co-wrote “Five More Minutes” with Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell after losing his grandfather. Fifteen years after Idol, the man who sang it has two little boys carrying family names, and a house full of birthday cake.
