Gathering together, ten proud Marines shared the dance floor for a patriotic hymn that has become an anthem for proud Americans. To celebrate the 243rd birthday of the Marine Corp on November 3, Saturday, these Marines stood with their arms and rendered Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA. Standing with their arms around each other, they swayed and proudly sang the song at the top of their voice.

“God Bless the USA” is the song that is just perfect for the event and also as an American citizen. The song itself simply draws out emotions. Tears and a deep sense of American pride evoke whenever we hear such a lovely patriotic tune. More than that, watching these servicemen showing unity and devotion is so touching and will make you even prouder.

The one-of-a-kind moment was captured on video by one of the Marin Corp ball attendees. He then shared it on social media and the video went on to attract thousands of viewers.

“God Bless the USA:” Lee Greenwood’s Patriotic Hymn

Released in 1984, country music artist Lee Greenwood conceived and crafted the classic tune. During that time, however, the song only received moderate success. Less than a decade later, the song eventually drew more appreciation. As the United States became embattled in the Gulf War in 1991, this song became well-played on radios and had become a patriotic standard since then. In addition, it later became Greenwood’s signature song.

The story of “God Bless the USA” is just as inspiring as its message. In fact, Greenwood even wrote the lyrics not being aware that he was creating a song that would inspire millions of Americans.

In one of his interviews, Greenwood revealed the heart behind the song:

“I wanted to write it my whole life. When I got to that point, we were doing 300 days a year on the record, and we were on our fourth or fifth album on MCA. I called my producer, and I said, ‘I have a need to do this.’ I’ve always wanted to write a song about America, and I said, ‘We just need to be more united.’”
