Many would know that it was because of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks why Lee Greenwood resurrected his powerful ballad. “God Bless the USA” touched and moved millions to tears during that infamous day that happened in all of American history. Furthermore, the song gained an immediate and immense reception. The following even grew bigger and became well-known after the tragic incident that happened on September 11, 2001. With this, it was resurrected to the charts and placed no. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As of 2015, Greenwood’s patriotic performance has gone on to be double platinum. To note, he has sold more than one million copies of the song in the United States alone.
