It’s official. Lainey Wilson just went back-to-back.
The 2025 ACM Awards are underway in Frisco, Texas, and Lainey just locked down Female Artist of the Year for the second straight year. She’s not just having a moment. She’s building a legacy.
Live from the Ford Center at The Star with Reba McEntire returning as host for the show’s 60th anniversary, the night hit pause for one of its most meaningful traditions. This was all about honoring the women who have shaped, shifted, and shaken up country music.
Before the winner was revealed, five past Female Artist of the Year winners walked out like a wall of country royalty. Martina McBride, Gretchen Wilson, Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, and Wynonna Judd.
Each introduced one of the 2025 nominees. Kelsea Ballerini, Ella Langley, Megan Moroney, Kacey Musgraves, and Lainey Wilson. They delivered personal tributes that reached beyond career stats and deep into heartland respect.
McBride cheered on Kelsea for her fearlessness and honesty. Gretchen Wilson celebrated Ella Langley’s grit and called her a badass. Sara Evans reminded everyone that Megan Moroney earned Best New Female Vocalist last year and now belongs in the top tier. Crystal Gayle praised Kacey’s unmatched songwriting and deep Texas roots. And Wynonna saved her words for Lainey.
“You’ve been a powerful force, making real country music feel like part of the family right from the start. One, two, three—Lainey Wilson”
When Lainey’s name was called, the arena erupted. When she stepped up, legs shaking, she let it all spill out. Gratitude, disbelief, and straight-from-the-gut honesty.

“My legs are numb,” she started. “I can’t believe that I’m getting to stand up here with all these ladies that I was influenced by.”
She looked at Crystal Gayle and remembered watching her stand in the Opry circle as a kid. That was the moment she knew what she wanted. “I knew I was never going to grow hair like that,” she joked. “But I knew I wanted to do this.”
Lainey gave love to her parents, her fiancé Duck, and her team. But she also made it clear this win belonged to every woman in the category.
“I couldn’t do this without y’all. The girls are kicking down some barn doors, and I love it.”
Then came the mic drop.
“My mama always says, believe and receive, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Here’s to the girls.”
That’s not just another trophy on the shelf. That’s Lainey Wilson, two years running, holding down the crown and doing it her way.
