Country music has always been about moments that make you stop in your boots. Lainey Wilson just delivered one of those moments that will live in CMA history for a long time.

It only took one night, one mic, and one woman to remind Nashville who is boss.

Lainey Wilson did not just open the 2025 CMA Awards. She took complete ownership of that stage like she built it with her own two hands. There was no co-host and no filler, just a powerhouse in bell-bottoms ripping through a medley that had fans in a frenzy and left every legend in the room grinning like proud parents.

She kicked things off with Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse,” throwing that raw soul into the arena while Stapleton himself looked on with raised brows and a proud smirk. Then she cut through the crowd like a honky-tonk hurricane and made her way next to Brooks and Dunn while belting “Hillbilly Deluxe” like it was 2005 all over again. The boys did not even try to hide their amusement.

From there, it was pedal to the metal with a nine-song mashup that did not just nod to country history but kicked open the doors to the entire honky-tonk hall of fame. Songs like “Redneck Woman,” “Gunpowder and Lead,” “Girl Crush,” “Need You Now,” and even “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” were each delivered with style, swagger, and steel-sharp vocals. Miranda Lambert got up and danced. Keith Urban joined in with a guitar solo. Little Big Town harmonized like angels in rhinestones. By the time Lainey reached “Where the Blacktop Ends,” the crowd was on its feet, and no one wanted to sit down.

Viewers lit up too. Social media blazed with fans calling it the best CMA intro ever. One user said they have already watched it more than 50 times, and honestly, same.

And just when you thought the queen had already won the night, she walked away with not one, not two, but three major trophies. She earned Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Album of the Year for her chart-burning project Whirlwind. That is not just domination. That is legacy in real time.

They say it takes a decade to break through in Nashville. However, Lainey Wilson has been tearing through timelines like a twister through a cornfield. She has gone from a Louisiana dreamer with a Fender and a fire in her belly to the face of modern country. Since her record deal in 2018, she has stacked up hit after hit, owned her spotlight on Yellowstone, doubled up her CMA Entertainer of the Year wins, and now hosted the biggest night in country music solo like it was just another gig.

And she is still planning her wedding to Duck Hodges while running this town. Talk about multitasking.

Lainey Wilson just made CMA history by reminding everyone why she is the one to beat. That intro was pure fire. Those vocals were sharp enough to gut a wild hog. And those trophies were well earned by the hardest-working woman in boots.

Nashville’s new queen did not just show up. She took the wheel, floored it, and left a trail of stardust and sawdust behind her.

And that, friends, is how you kick off a show.
