Everyone needs a companion, it doesn’t matter who or what it is. And there’s one popular song that talks just about that. The song ‘My Rifle, My Pony, and Me’ by Dean Martin, which was written by Dimitri Tiomkin from the 1959 film Rio Bravo was considered to be one of the biggest hits of all time.

That’s why the daughter of the award-winning duo Joey+Rory, Heidi Feek, a country and folk singer, decided to follow in her parents’ footsteps when she released her own album called The Only back in 2013. In that same year, she was also able to release her cover version of the song ‘My Rifle, My Pony, and Me’ during a live performance.

Her performance was spectacular to the next level. Her voice really complicated each and every note of the song. To make it even better, her live singing gave the performance an extra pop of color.

But, what really made the performance dear and close to Heidi’s heart was that she was joined by her father during the show.

The song conveys a message that a lot of people would connect with. There are just some points in our lives when we need someone or something to accompany us through our day.

Now, in this song, the narrative revolves around a cowboy whose everyday companion is his Rifle, Pony, and himself.

So, if you’re looking for a song to accompany you everyday, why not try to add the cover version of Heidi Feek of the song ‘My Rifle, My Pony, and Me’ by Dean Martin onto your own daily playlist? You can watch her live performance below.
