When it comes to great country music, Garth Brooks never let us down. The song “If Tomorrow Never Comes” is one of his best songs. In fact, it was his first hit that cemented his career as a legitimate country musician. The track was released back in 1989 but we still remember it because of the great message of the song and the way that Brooks performed it.
Behind Garth Brooks’ “If Tomorrow Never Comes”
Garth Brooks’ music career started 5 years before the release of this track. George Strait’s debut song convinced him to do country music. When the song hit the charts, the singer knew that he would continue the path of country music.
In an interview, the singer shared the inspiration behind the song:
“There are a lot of great writers in Nashville and Kent Blazy and his wife Sharon, who are wonderful people, had been trying to make a living from Kent’s songwriting. I thought we had something when we completed the song but I didn’t really know it would be a hit until I heard it by chance on the radio in my truck and I knew we had something. There was something in it that moved me and I could feel the tears come to my eyes.”
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes
This song is a sweet reminder that we should cherish each moment that we have with our loved ones. We will never know what the future holds for us. This means that we should already do the things that we want to do. In terms of our relationship, are we confident enough to say that we have shown all of our love to our partner?
Sometimes, we tend to hold back our emotions because we feel like it is not the ‘special’ moment yet. This should not be the case since we will never know if we will be able to see tomorrow as the track suggests.
