In 2019, Ben Haggard surprised the world when he unexpectedly performed his new song “As Haggard as They Come” on the biggest country music stage, the Grand Ole Opry

Using his god-given talent, Ben Haggard proves to everyone that he is more than just Merle Haggard’s son

Ben is mostly known as the youngest son of country legend Merle Haggard

Although there is no denying that his father was his inspiration as he stepped into the music industry, Ben still wants to build a name for himself.

But since his father contributed a lot to his success, as tribute, he decided to release a song inspired by his father’s teaching.

Upon its release, fans can’t help but admire Ben’s talent for singing. Even though his song didn’t hit any charts, fans still consider it one of Ben’s best songs, as it is a one that has that classic country flair to it.

But aside from its tune and Ben’s undeniable charisma and fame, the song’s meaning is also worth knowing, especially if you are a die-hard Haggard fan.

Meaning Behind The Song

The song by Ben Haggard talks about Ben’s journey to becoming the singer he is right now, from hitting the road at the age of nine and never having the chance to go to school to the days when he was chasing white lines just to prove that he is indeed a Haggard.

He also expresses how he loves playing his guitar and how his father’s words of not letting him give up on his dreams contributed to his success, which will surely remind us not to quit on our dreams. If you missed it, you can watch Ben Haggard’s live performance of “As Haggard as They Come” below.
