We are afraid to get hurt and end up all alone. “Ask Me How I Know” a song performed by Garth Brooks is a song about a man tryin’ to push people out of his life. Find out why and where the inspiration came from.
“Ask Me How I Know” By Garth Brooks
“Ask Me How I Know” is a country song recorded by Garth Brooks for his album Gunslinger. The song was released in 2016 as part of the album and then in 2017 as a single. Mitch Rossell wrote the song for Garth Brooks. However, he did not intend to write the song for Brooks at first. Garth Brooks’ finally scored his No. 1 again after those years. The last time Brooks topped the chart was on 2007 with his song “More Than A Memory,” which was written by Lee Brice, Kyle Jacobs, and Billy Montana. His song “Ask Me How I Know” not only peaked at No. 1 on the Country Airplay, it also entered the Billboard Country chart at No. 13. In addition, his song crossed over to the pop chart at No. 71.
Mitch Rossell, the songwriter, said that the song was inspired by him. He told Taste of Country that just like the man in the song, he pushes people away from him. He does not want to get close to someone and when he knows it is going to happen, he immediately knows what to do.
“It came out straight from the soul and the heart of me always being that guy in relationships that had to have control and power, and wouldn't let anybody close enough to ever really love somebody. I pushed a couple of really good girls away because of that quality. It came from a very real place for me.”
