Bailey Zimmerman wrote the check, and the charges went away.
The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to KRQE News in Albuquerque that all charges against the country singer have been dropped and the case has been dismissed because Zimmerman paid full restitution to the hotel.
His attorney told TMZ, “Bailey immediately took responsibility for his mistake and, as a result, the Bernalillo County District Attorney quickly resolved the case.”
That’s one way to put it. Another way is that a felony charge and a misdemeanor disappeared after a wire transfer cleared.
Bailey Zimmerman had been facing a felony charge for criminal damage to property over $1,000 and a misdemeanor charge for falsely obtaining services after the incident at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque on May 27.
A Quick Recap of What Actually Happened That Night
As we covered last week, the police affidavit described a night that went sideways fast. Zimmerman stumbled onto the stage during soundcheck, smashed a guitar on the ground, kicked a drum set, threw cymbals and a microphone across the stage, and pushed a guitarist. Security said he appeared intoxicated throughout the evening. He spit toward a security guard, reportedly upset his SUV was the wrong color. The resort kicked him out and had to call police.
The next morning, housekeeping found the room destroyed. A smashed television, a broken phone, a destroyed coffee table, damaged walls, carpet stains, and two missing chairs added up to roughly $16,000 in damage. He also left behind an unpaid $400 alcohol tab.
That same night, Zimmerman told fans on Instagram that he was cancelling the show because he “wasn’t feeling well.” The police report painted a very different picture.
Prosecutors had sought an arrest warrant after both resort staff and police tried to contact Zimmerman and his team and received no response. Now that the bill is paid, the legal side is settled.
The felony is gone. The misdemeanor is gone. But the affidavit, the security footage, the cancelled shows, and the Instagram post that didn’t match reality are all still part of the public record. Paying restitution closes the legal chapter, but it doesn’t rewrite the story. Zimmerman’s next show is Thursday night at the Country Drive Music Festival in Ashland, Nebraska. Whatever comes next, the smartest move he can make is letting his music do the talking and leaving hotel rooms in one piece.
