This list of Travis Tritt songs only proves that the Grammy Award-winning artist has already come a long way ever since he started singing after his church’s Sunday school choir.

Through the years, Tritt became one of the leading country singers. He plunged into the bluesy Southern rock without even wearing a cowboy hat – at the same time developing a fearless, outlaw image that makes him different from the pack.

Indeed, he has more success than most could ever dream of, with a string of platinum albums and countless country hits under his belt. Here are some of our favorite songs by Travis Tritt.

1. “Here’s A Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)”

From: It’s All About to Change (1991)

The song tells the tale of a man whose former flame regrets leaving him and has expressed her desire to get back together. However, the man no longer believes her. So, he gave her a quarter and told her to call someone who cares.

Travis Tritt wrote “Here’s A Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)” years before he came to Nashville – going on a regular job and still wishing to become the country star he is today. At the same time, Tritt was grieving the end of his second marriage.

Soon enough, his soon-to-be ex-wife gave him a call as he was reading their divorce paper. She wanted him to consider getting back together. After that conversation and some thinking, the song’s lyrics came rushing to Tritt, finishing it in just about fifteen minutes.

Tritt originally did not consider releasing the song as it was too personal for him, helping him stand on his feet every time he would get depressed over any personal issues. But when he played the heart-tugging ballad on stage one night, the audience’s reaction was just incredible – making him change his mind.

It became one of Tritt’s most popular songs. Whenever he performs it live, the audience would often toss actual quarters on stage.

2. “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive”

From: Down the Road I Go (2000)

This on-point and simple song will remind you to find delight in the little things in life – even if it’s just rice cooking in your microwave or some homemade soup. Because after all, it’s “a great day to be alive.”

Tritt released the heartwarming ballad as the second single off his album Down the Road I Go, and it climbed to the second spot of Billboard US Hot Country Songs – even helping him earn a Single of the Year nomination during the Academy of Country Music Award.

3. “Help Me Hold On”

From: Country Club (1990)

Released as the second single from Tritt’s debut album, “Help Me Hold On” became the first country hit for the singer – both in the United States and in Canada.

The song tells the tale of a relationship that’s about to fail. The man in the song admitted all his shortcomings, and he’s now willing to pay the price it takes to keep her.

4. “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin'”

From: It’s All About to Change (1991)

Tritt teamed up with another country superstar for “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin’,” and it turned out to be one of the greatest hits in the 1990s – peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard US Hot Country Songs in the United States while No. 4 on the Canada Country Tracks (RPM).

Moreover, the song won big during the 35th Annual Grammy Awards in 1992, taking home the Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.

5. “Lord Have Mercy on the Working Man”

From: T-R-O-U-B-L-E (1992)

In 1992, Tritt gave a massive shout-out towards the economic injustice the blue-collar workers are going through. Remarkably, the song’s final chorus features several renowned country artists singing background vocals – this includes Brooks & Dunn, George Jones, Tanya Tucker, among others.

The country singer used to work at an air conditioning company while also playing in clubs for his side job before he landed a record deal.

6. “Anymore”

From: It’s All About to Change (1991)

Tritt can no longer hide the way he feels in the song “Anymore.” It was released in 1991 as the second single off his album It’s All About to Change – skyrocketing to the top spot of the country charts, both in the United States and in Canada.

Moreover, Tritt also played as the struggling and injured Vietnam war veteran named Mac Singleton for its music video – which was the first of a trilogy.

7. “Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde”

From: Down the Road I Go (2000)

The song tells the tale of a man and a woman who became partners in crime. When the woman robbed a quick mart, the man served as her getaway ride – just like a “Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde.” Unfortunately, the two were arrested in the middle of counting all their money in a motel room.

8. “More Than You’ll Ever Know”

From: The Restless Kind (1996)

Here’s another song penned by Tritt himself wherein he tells the story of a man who finally came to terms with his own emotion as he finds himself struggling to express his deepest feelings to the woman he loves.

“More Than You’ll Ever Know” peaked at No. 3 in the country chart of the United States while No. 7 in Canada.

9. “The Best Of Intentions”

From: Down the Road I Go (2000)

This country ballad helped Tritt get back on top of the country charts for the first time in six years. This emotional song is about a man’s best intentions that never happened into the life he had always intended to build for the woman he loves.

“The Best of Intentions” also peaked at No. 27 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it Tritt’s highest-charting single so far.

10. “Country Club”

From: Country Club (1990)

Tritt finds himself trying hard to get a woman’s attention in the song “Country Club.” The woman is actually a member of an exclusive country club in which only members were allowed in. The man in the song insisted that he is also a member of the said club because “country music is what I love.”

“Country Club” is actually the lead single and title track off Tritt’s debut album, peaking at No. 9 on the Billboard US Hot Country Songs. It is also accompanied by a music video – the very first one for Tritt.
