Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Micheal Busbee — who has worked with the likes of Pink, Lady Antebellum, and Maren Morris –has died, his record label confirmed on Sunday. He was 43.

Busbee’s Legacy

Micheal Busbee is said to be one of the producers and songwriters who helped shape Maren Morris’ country music with her life-changing debut album Hero and co-wrote hits for Pink, Florida Georgia Line, and Lady Antebellum.

Known professionally as “Busbee,” the California native’s cause of death is not yet disclosed, but Warner Records released a statement on their official Facebook page regarding the loss of a wonderful and talented artist.

“Today we lost Busbee, a dear friend, business partner with his company Altadena, and one of the best and brightest creative minds in music. Busbee’s kindness and legacy will never be forgotten and our hearts and prayers go out to his family at this very difficult time.”

He was a prominent name in the music industry, writing pop hits for Pink, Christina Aguilera, and 5 Seconds of Summer. Adding to his long list of careers he shaped, he also worked Florida Georgia Line’s Number One ballad “H.O.L.Y.,” Rascal Flatts’ “Summer Nights,” Lady Antebellum’s “You Look Good,” and Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood’s collaboration “The Fighter.” He also co-wrote Garth Brooks’ “People Loving People,” the superstar’s first single after a lengthy retirement, and Carly Pearce’s “Every Little Thing.”

Following the news of the songwriter’s death, Morris tweeted a photo of herself and her creative partner, showing the devastation of the loss.

According to a friend, Busbee was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, over the summer and was undergoing treatment.

Warner Chappell’s leadership spoke highly of Busbee.

“Our hearts are broken by the loss of our beautiful friend. He was an extraordinary human being whose generosity, spirituality, and humor inspired everyone around him. An amazingly gifted songwriter, he used his talent, his music, and his love to break down boundaries and bring people together. He left us far too soon. Our deepest condolences go to his wonderful family and all his many friends. We love you.”

Busbee is survived by his wife and three children.
