In 2013, country icon Willie Nelson gifted the world with his rendition of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.” The song was released as a duet with his daughter Paula Nelson. It was part of the album To All the Girls.

The song consists of duets recorded by Nelson with female singers, including prominent country singers Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn, and Carrie Underwood, among others.

Six years later, Nelson’s cover of the song was featured in the closing moments of HBO’s drama television series Big Little Lies during its season finale. It generated interest from various listeners, driving Nelson’s rendition to a No. 36 debut on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

The Iconic Father-And-Daughter Tandem’s Take on One Classic Song

“Have You Ever Seen The Rain” was originally released by the American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival as a single in 1971 off the album Pendulum. It was written by the group’s lead singer, John Fogerty, amidst the rising tension within the band following the looming departure of the band’s rhythm guitarist – his brother.

Many decades later, an iconic tandem – Willie Nelson and Paula Nelson – gave the song one great twist. But even though the duo played it at a much slower tempo, they both delivered the same message of how sometimes you can have a bright, beautiful, sunny day, and at the same time, rain comes.

“I want to know, have you ever seen the rain? Comin’ down on a sunny day?” Willie and Paula Nelson sang together.

Tune in below and listen to Willie Nelson and his daughter Paula Nelson’s cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.”
