It’s shaping up to be one hell of a Saturday this May 18, 2024, at Aggie Park at Texas A&M University down at College Station with the annual Troubadour Festival. It’s a day of old, traditional country music headlined by Grammy-winning and multi-platinum-selling singer Travis Tritt, with an all-new artist roster performing in two stages.

And, of course, 35 of the best sizzling hot and savory barbecue joints across the Lone Star State will also be participating in the event. And here’s the kicker: 20 of them made it to the most recent edition of Texas Monthly’s Top 50, and 5 more as honorable mentions. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ nationally recognized meat science program is also joining to teach festivalgoers about the science behind the famous Texas BBQ.

It’s the festival’s second outing on the venue – and seventh overall – and everyone’s excited to experience it all over again. After all, the first one blew them away with performances by Midland, Shane Smith & the Saints, Charlie Robison, Uncle Lucius, and Treaty Oak Revival, not to mention the special guest appearances of Braxton Keith, Graycie York, and Rachel Laren, who cranked up the heat even more.

Festival Essentials & Insider Tips

First things first: Tickets.

There are three ticket tiers for the festival: BBQ + Music, Music, and Troubadour VIP (which is unfortunately all sold out). The BBQ + Music ticket ($125) includes access to both stages, wherein you’re allowed to bring basic folding chairs in designated areas, and, of course, the unlimited sampling of all of the barbecue joints from 1 PM to 4 PM. Some participating BBQ joints are Snow’s BBQ, Black’s Barbecue, and College Station’s 1775 Texas Pit BBQ. But to hype up your taste buds, here’s the whole list.

For the music tickets ($60 for regular and $50 for limited student slots), it’s just all the fun and jam. But no worries, additional food will be available for purchase from local food trucks. Also, you can still try the different barbecues from the sampling should the restaurants choose to sell them afterward.

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ nationally-recognized meat science program, led by  A&M’s Three Brisketeers — meat science professor Dr. Davey Griffin, Rosenthal Meat Center manager Ray Riley, and Dr. Jeffrey Savell, vice chancellor and dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences – will also be joining in the fun as they talk all about meat. From what makes Texas BBQ great down to the different meat cuts to make your tasty barbecue party at home, they’ve got you covered.

Available parking spaces for the event include Stallings Boulevard Garage, West Campus Garage, and Lots 61 or 62 on the West side of Kyle Field. They cost $10 and can be pre-paid using ParkMobile. You can also go in and out of the festival as long as your wristband’s on, but you’ll have to pay again for parking should you use leave and return. But if you have an RV, you’d have a special event parking space. To reserve a spot, call 979-862-7943.

Rideshare has a designated pickup and drop-off location at Lot 60 at 303 George Bush Drive.
