According to reports from Entertainment Weekly, McCreery, visibly disturbed, stopped the performance and directly addressed the alleged assailant, saying, “Right here, that’s a lady you just hit, sir.” He then called for security and police, ensuring the woman’s safety and stressing the seriousness of the situation.

The crowd’s reaction was immediate, with many pointing out the alleged assailant to authorities. As noted by USA Today, McCreery didn’t hold back in expressing his dismay, calling the behavior “absolutely unacceptable” and labeling the perpetrator as “the definition of a coward.” Security at the Colorado State Fair, along with local police, escorted the man out of the venue. Although the man’s identity has not been disclosed, and it remains unclear if he was arrested, the incident is under investigation, with authorities encouraging anyone with video evidence to come forward.
