Riley Green just turned the corner from fan favorite to industry heavyweight.

The Jacksonville, Alabama native is walking into the 2025 CMA Awards with four nominations, the biggest haul of his career, and every single one tied to the same song: “You Look Like You Love Me.” The duet with Ella Langley is up for Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year, and Musical Event. That is a clean sweep of recognition for one track, and it proves that when Riley found the right song at the right time, he hit gold.

“You Look Like You Love Me” has been everywhere this past year. It is the kind of song that sounds just as good over a beer-soaked jukebox as it does blasting from an arena stage. It carries Riley’s signature mix of grit and smoothness, while Ella Langley brings the fire that makes it impossible to ignore. Fans latched onto it, radio pushed it hard, and streaming numbers followed. Now the CMAs are catching up, giving Riley his loudest vote of confidence yet.

For years, Riley Green has been the guy critics describe as “country to the bone.” He is the ball cap and boots artist who leans into steel guitars, hunting stories, and songs that sound like front porch confessions. Tracks like “There Was This Girl” and “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” built his base, but “You Look Like You Love Me” kicked the door wide open. Partnering with Ella Langley, who is herself one of the top nominees with six this year, gave the song an edge that carried it across generations and fan bases. It became a duet fans didn’t know they needed until it dropped, and now it is everywhere.

What makes these nominations sting extra sweet is the road Riley has taken to get here. He has been grinding since his early days playing clubs across Alabama and Georgia, slowly moving from regional act to Nashville mainstay. Along the way, he stayed true to his roots, leaning into traditional sounds even when the mainstream tried to chase pop country trends. For some time, that meant he was respected but not fully embraced by the awards crowd. The four nods this year change that.

And do not overlook what this means for the future. Riley’s duet with Langley already bagged a CMA win last year for Musical Event of the Year, but its growth since then pushed it into this year’s eligibility window for even more categories. That means the song has not only had staying power, but it has grown in stature. When voters keep recognizing the same track two years running, it is more than luck. It is lightning in a bottle.

Of course, Riley is not walking into an easy field. Single of the Year has Lainey Wilson, Megan Moroney, Luke Combs, and Zach Top in the mix. Song of the Year is just as tough, stacked with Wilson and Moroney again. But even being in those lineups is a sign that Riley Green is no longer the underdog. He is now one of the names Nashville has to say out loud when they talk about who matters most.

On November 19 at Bridgestone Arena, Riley will be part of the conversation in a way he has never been before. Win or lose, four nominations on the back of one song proves this has been his biggest year yet. And if “You Look Like You Love Me” keeps its momentum, he might just walk away with more than respect. He could walk away with trophies.
