Nicole Kidman’s husband, Keith Urban, is one of the most celebrated guitarists and country singer-songwriters in the industry with 20 chart-topping singles, one too many hits, and four Grammy awards (and numerous nominations) over his three-decade-long career. And he wasn’t only successful with his career because he was equally blessed with a loving wife and family. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban just celebrated 15 years of marriage, and they’re loving every minute of it alongside their two lovely children Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

Now, let’s get to know more about the Nashville-based singer from his childhood to his career to his amazing guitar collection and to the latest updates about him and his music.

Who is Nicole Kidman’s husband, Keith Urban?

Keith Lionel Urban was born on October 26, 1967 to parents Marienne and Robert Urbahn in Whangarei, North Island, New Zealand. He was the youngest son of the couple and he had a brother named Shane Urban. Later on, the family moved to Caboolture, Queensland, Australia where his father owned a convenience store. Urban was two years old at the time.

There was not much information known about his childhood except that he took guitar lessons from Sue McCarthy and soon started entering local competitions. Growing up as a guitarist, his playing was influenced by two rock players, namely Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits and Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. In addition to playing the guitar, he also acted with a local theatre company.

In 1983, he joined the Australian TV talent show New Faces and then a few years later, he was able to enter the Australian country music scene. Urban started with regular appearances on the Reg Lindsay Country Homestead TV Program and Mike McClellan’s Music Programme. There he performed duets with Jenny Wilson, a local Brisbane girl, and they even won a Golden Guitar award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

As his music career started to grow, his signature guitar playing style, which was a mix of rock and country, also started to emerge. He performed regularly at the Northern Suburbs Country Music Club in Bald Hills. And then he was also in a band called Kids Country, who also made appearances in the Reg Lindsay show as well as Conway Country.

In 1991, he signed his first record deal with EMI in Australia and launched his self-titled debut album, which enjoyed success. A year later, he made his move to Nashville to further pursue his music career. At the start, he used to write songs and play guitar for other artists before starting his own band with drummer Pete Clarke and bassist Jerry Flowers in 1997. But he left the band to start a solo career.

It was in 1999 when he made his solo American debut leading off with “It’s a Love Thing” and followed with “Your Everything,” which broke him through the Top 10 on the US Charts. But his first-ever number one hit was his follow-up single “But for the Grace of God,” written by Charlotte Caffet and Jane Wiedlin.

Since then, he had been enjoying chart-topping hits, platinum-certified albums, and numerous recognitions and awards, including a Golden Globe and, of course, a few Grammys as well. He is turning 54 this year and is still happily married to his wife, Nicole Kidman. Interestingly, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban had a 1-inch height difference (with Urban standing 5-foot 10-inches and Keith Urban’s wife at 5-foot 11-inches). And through the years of posing for the camera at the red carpet, the two have managed to craft subtle and carefully coordinated poses to make their heights look flattering in photos.

Keith Urban’s Guitar Collection

As a well-known guitarist, it’s not surprising that Keith Urban would launch his own guitar collection. In 2013, he collaborated with interactive lifestyle retailer HSN to release his first custom-crafted, limited edition acoustic and electric guitar line. The URBAN Collection featured two versions of the Phoenix Edition guitars available in Brazilian Burst, Emerald Brazilian Burst, Rich Black, and Vintage Natural Ivory. The guitars were sold at affordable prices targeted to many aspiring musicians and to those who want to learn to play.

In 2015, he teamed up again with HSN with a new line. Then in 2017, he released another line – an American Vintage Ashwood Acoustic Limited Edition Guitar available in its natural wood color, cherry red, lapis blue, and green. He also released Player by Keith Urban, which was a 30-disc lesson set that gives the complete guitar experience.

You can purchase the limited acoustic guitar along with the 30-disc lesson set complete with a guitar strap, padded nylon gig bag, capo, and picks for just a thousand dollars. And hopefully, by the end, you can play one of those Keith Urban songs!

Who makes Keith Urban’s guitars?

Keith Urban’s guitars are known for being custom-created and handcrafted. And there was a lot of buzz as to who manufactures his guitars since the guitars were exactly as they advertised. The guitars have astounding performance with bright and natural sounds iconic to the authentic acoustic guitar.

According to sources, Keith Urban personally designed the guitars from the tonewood to the fretboard construction. And he was definitely heavily involved in the crafting of these guitars. It is safe to say that Keith Urban works with key players in the guitar industry to produce these high-quality guitars.

Keith Urban’s Net Worth and Latest Updates

As of June 2021, Nicole Kidman’s husband, Keith Urban, is estimated to have a net worth of $85 million. His wealth is attributed from the sales of his commercially successful albums, headlining tours, and supporting tours as well. And of course, there are also his TV appearances, including being a judge in American Idol in 2012. As of now, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are enjoying life and posting PDA photos on Instagram.
