While reports say that the number of American listeners of country music is declining, we have just gotten hope to know that country music is still a thing in different countries. Well, there are avid country music fans in different parts of the world such as in Canada, U.K., Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines to name a few. As we observe, most of these countries speak English fluently or at least understand the language especially that country music originated in the United States where English is the language.

However it may be, there are still some countries that patronize country music even though these do not hold English a major language. Such is the case of this Mongolian singer who does not know and understands English but still, sees country music as his music genre. Let us meet him and how he got the attention of the world.

The Mongolian Crooner Who Sounds like Elvis

A 21-year-old singer and a native to Mongolia, Enkh-Erdene Otgonbat started playing the guitar at a very young age. He developed a superb singing voice which until now is very evident. While most artists opt to pursue the pop music industry, he managed to steal the limelight with his country music vibe.

Furthermore, he admits that country music influenced him a lot growing up. He has this deep voice that is mostly compared to that of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley.

Enkh-Erdene first had his taste of success when he joined and won Mongolia’s Got Talent in 2016. His audition piece was “Amarillo by Morning,” a popular cover of The King, George Strait. This sky-rocketed his fame as he did not just get the attention of his fellow Mongolians but also the world.

Moreover, in the show’s semi-finals, he rendered Elvis Presley’s “Don’t Be Cruel,” which gave him more attention from fans around the globe. Soon, he went on and conquered the show, bringing home the most coveted title.

Here is his version of “Don’t Be Cruel” during the semi-finals of Mongolia’s Got Talent:

The World’s Best Performance

With the immense talent that Enkh-Erdene has, it is no doubt that he is a true winner. Now, he is a part of one of the biggest shows on the planet, The World’s Best.

Everyone is shocked especially country music singer Faith Hill when a young man from Mongolia performed a country hit. Enkh-Erdene covered George Strait’s “Amarillo by Morning,” and he did a great job.

When the judges asked him if he understood what he was singing about, he shook his head and said, “No.” As a matter of fact, this Mongolian crooner does not even speak or understand English, but he mastered this classic hit superbly.

On the other hand, host James Corden even jokingly asked Faith Hill, if she had met this man a few years earlier, would she have ended up with him over Tim McGraw. Everyone laughed their heart out as Hill cringed with a smile.

The World’s Best is a reality talent competition television series. It features international performers that are evaluated by three American judges – Drew Barrymore, RuPaul Charles, and Faith Hill, as well as 50 experts in various fields of entertainment. Hosted by comedian James Corden, the show premiered on CBS on Sunday, Feb. 3rd.
