There is a Mongolian singer on the rise and his name is Enkh-Erdene Otgonbat. His performance of “Amarillo by Morning” by the country legend, George Strait, surprised everyone at the reality singing competition show called World’s Best.

His performance definitely stunned the three main judges and the other judges from around the world. His voice (I dare say) almost sounded exactly like George Strait. People were amazed that for a nation like Mongolia, which is not known for being a country music lover, has someone like Enkh who could perform like that.

Mongolian Singer on the Rise

Enkh-Erdene Otgonbat is not new to TV performances. He is actually the winner of Mongolia’s Got Talent back in 2016 when he was first discovered. He won the show by sticking to the country genre that he loves. His audition piece was also “Amarillo by Morning” and was well loved by the judges and the Mongolian fans.

His won got him recognition from the Got Talent Global franchise, earning him a global audience. And this year, he was invited to join the prestigious competition called World’s Best that aired last February 3, 2019. Although he failed to win the coveted prize, he sure got himself a legion of country fans with his performance of a George Strait song.

Sounding like George Strait

A lot of people was surprised by his song choice. Prior to his performance, he was interviewed by James Corden (the host of the show). In the interview, he did not know how to speak in English and he needed an interpreter. However, when he hit the stage and opened his mouth, jaws were figuratively on the floor.  Faith Hill’s face showed shock and amusement at the same time. Even as a viewer, I was quite confused because it really felt like George Strait himself was singing on that stage. He was that good!
