When country star Faith Hill and talk show host Oprah Winfrey met for the very first time, the two award-winning ladies found out they had plenty more in common than both being Mississippi girls. While Hill rehearsed the night before she was slated to perform on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Winfrey fell in love with the country singer’s take on the beautiful hymn “I Surrender All.”

It turns out it is one of the talk show titan’s favorite gospel hymns, helping her change her life over two decades ago.

Winfrey recalled going as far as trying to lose fifty pounds just to get the role she was auditioning for in Steven Spielberg’s The Color Purple. She believed she was having a hard time getting the part because of her weight. One day, she found herself running on the track in the middle of the rain. She used all her might to continue running; however, she ended up crying and praying. At which point, she spontaneously started to sing “I Surrender All.”

“That moment of surrendering was a life-changing moment for me,” Oprah recalled.

So, Oprah Winfrey Made Sure Faith Hill Sing It On The Show

You could never ask for a greater reminder of the meaning of the country star’s name than this extraordinarily worshipful and joyful performance of “I Surrender All.”

Faith Hill kicked things off with a gentle acapella along with the teasing of her band and background singers. It was truly such a beautiful moment as she silences the crowd and encourages them to worship the Lord.

You can watch and be mesmerized by Faith Hill’s rendition of “I Surrender All” in the video below. Her performance was so amazing, she could make you feel the presence of the holy spirit.
