Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd is postponing two of their August 2019 shows on their farewell tour, the Last of the Street Survivors. This is so their guitarist Gary Rossington recovers fully and without stress from his recent heart surgery.

Rossington has experienced fatigue and other symptoms that are due to a leaky heart valve. He underwent surgery to repair the valve on the 31st of July and is expected to make a full recovery. The band’s frontman, Johnny Van Zant addressed his friend and bandmate’s condition in a press release.

“We all appreciate the well wishes for Gary and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. “But he can’t wait to come back and perform at 100 percent for the fans. We will see you all soon!”

Their scheduled performances for the 16th and 17th of August will now take place on the 18th and 19th of October, respectively.

Rossington had quintuple bypass surgery back in 2003 and also suffered a heart attack in the fall of 2015. He also had to take a break from the road after suffering from chest pains and having surgery to remedy blockages in his arteries.

Lynyrd Skynyrd has been popularizing the Southern Rock genre since the 1970s. Also, the band intends to go out with a bang with their Last of the Street Survivors farewell tour.
