Ludacris Pulls Out of Kid Rock’s ‘Rock the Country’ Tour After Controversy and Calls It a Mix-Up

Well, it looks like Ludacris will not be trading beats for boots after all.

The Atlanta rap legend found himself smack in the middle of a country music controversy this week when his name showed up on the lineup for Kid Rock‘s “Rock the Country” festival, only to quickly vanish after fans lit up the internet with backlash. Now, according to reps, it turns out the whole thing was just a mix-up, or so they say.

Earlier this week, the internet just about lost its collective mind when “What’s Your Fantasy” rapper Ludacris appeared on the official tour poster alongside a whole mess of country music heavyweights like Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Jelly Roll, and Kid Rock himself. Also on the bill was Nelly, who is no stranger to country crossovers and is not new to stirring the pot with his own political affiliations.

But Ludacris? His fans were not having it. The internet lit up faster than a bonfire at a tailgate party, with folks calling him out for signing on to what many perceive as a red-leaning MAGA-fueled country event. Some followers flooded his Instagram with comments, wondering why one of hip-hop’s most respected names would jump into bed with a politically charged tour featuring artists who have aligned themselves with Donald Trump in the past.

One fan wrote that it was sad to hear he was joining the MAGA festival, while another said they could not understand why he was playing at a Kid Rock-led show. Others claimed they were disappointed but not surprised, stating that everyone eventually has a number that makes them sell out.

And just like that, Ludacris’ name disappeared from the tour lineup.

According to Rolling Stone, a rep for “Rock the Country” confirmed that Ludacris is no longer on the bill. A spokesperson for Luda backed that up and chalked the whole thing up to miscommunication, saying it was a mix-up and that he was never supposed to be on the lineup to begin with.

Whether it was a real scheduling mistake or a quick course correction after catching heat online, one thing is certain. Ludacris is out, and he is staying quiet about it. He has not said a word publicly, and his team is keeping it tight-lipped. But the timing of it all has fans raising eyebrows.

Meanwhile, Nelly is still locked in and rolling with it. He performed at the first Rock the Country tour in 2024 and even appeared at President Trump’s inauguration. He has made it clear that he loves his country and respects the office, regardless of who is in charge.

The festival itself brands the event as a celebration of community and tradition. Still, the lineup features a long list of artists who are not shy about waving their conservative flags.

Despite the controversy, the show is going on. The tour kicks off on May 1 and rolls through September with a massive roster that includes Creed, Brooks and Dunn, Riley Green, Hank Jr., Shinedown, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and many more. The red dirt will fly, and the crowds will roar, but Ludacris will not be anywhere near it.

This just proves that in today’s world, artists can cross genre lines all day long. But crossing political lines is a whole different thing. Whether this was an honest mistake or a move to save face, Ludacris has made it clear that this ain’t his kind of rodeo.
