Lainey Wilson won big during the 2023 CMA Awards at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday (November 8). The “Things A Man Oughta Know” singer won the grand prize and was crowned the 2023 CMA Entertainer of the Year – triumphing over formidable competitors including Carrie Underwood, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and Chris Stapleton.

Wilson, whose emotions were palpable, took center stage and delivered a heartfelt and touching acceptance speech. The country star expressed her gratitude and deep passion for the music genre and the unwavering commitment she’d poured into her award-winning year in the studio and on the 186 shows she would play until the end of 2023.

Lainey Wilson Came Into The Night As The Top Nominee

Lainey Wilson received nine nominations at the 2023 CMA Awards. It made Wilson believe that nine is her lucky number, especially since she experienced numerous significant events related to this number throughout her life.

Well, luck as it may seem, but Wilson has undoubtedly become one of the leading women in country music. In addition to winning Entertainer of the Year, she also took home Female Vocalist Of The Year and Album Of The Year, along with two other awards she’s sharing with HARDY – Music Video Of The Year and Musical Event Of The Year for their powerful duet, “Wait in the Truck.”

Wilson’s victories in five categories now share the record and a feat previously achieved by Johnny Cash in 1969, later replicated by Vince Gill in 1993 and Alan Jackson in 2002. Notably, she also established a new one-year record for a female artist, surpassing the achievements of Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, and Alison Krauss, who triumphed in four categories in a single night.

“And thank y’all for letting me be me and thank y’all for giving me this opportunity,” Wilson concluded her speech.

Truly, it’s already a triumphant year for the singer-songwriter from Louisiana. Congratulations, Lainey Wilson, for sweeping multiple awards at the 2023 CMA. It’s truly a testament to her outstanding talent and dedication to country music! Here’s to a future filled with even more success.
