The “Things A Man Oughta Know” singer won the grand prize and was crowned the 2023 CMA Entertainer of the Year – triumphing over formidable competitors including Carrie Underwood, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, and Chris Stapleton.
Wilson, whose emotions were palpable, took center stage and delivered a heartfelt and touching acceptance speech. The country star expressed her gratitude and deep passion for the music genre and the unwavering commitment she’d poured into her award-winning year in the studio and on the 186 shows she would play until the end of 2023.

Wilson’s victories in five categories now share the record and a feat previously achieved by Johnny Cash in 1969, later replicated by Vince Gill in 1993 and Alan Jackson in 2002. Notably, she also established a new one-year record for a female artist, surpassing the achievements of Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, and Alison Krauss, who triumphed in four categories in a single night.
