Emmylou Harris: The Birthday Celebrator

She was born on April 2, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama. She spent most of her childhood in North Carolina and in Woodbridge, Virginia. Her father was a Marine Corps Officer and her mother stayed at home taking care of them. Emmylou Harris is a bright student. She graduated as a valedictorian and received a scholarship in one of the finest universities in North Carolina. However, she did not finish her degree because Harris wanted to pursue her music career. Moreover, upon dropping out, she moved to New York trying her luck to be a famous artist.

Sometimes, your dream job will be hard to find and you need to go through a lot of struggles before you will succeed. That’s what happened to Emmylou Harris in pursuing her passion. It was like chasing the wind. But with perseverance and determination, she was able to succeed.

In 1975, Harris got her big break. She released her first solo debut “Pieces of the Sky” with the help of Brian Ahern. Then in 1976, she released her second album “Elite Hotel.”

Determination is Equivalent to Success

In total, Emmylou Harris won 14 Grammys plus a lifetime achievement award. In addition, she was also included in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
