Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Were Nowhere at the CMAs, and Divorce Rumors Heated Up

Sometimes, what you do not see at the CMAs tells you more than what you do.

Country music’s rowdiest night rolled on without two of its biggest names, and it was loud in all the wrong ways. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, the genre-bending, PDA-loving power couple, were nowhere to be found at the 2025 CMA Awards, and the silence said a whole lot more than words ever could.

Sure, Blake’s CMA attendance has not exactly been clockwork in recent years. However, this time, he had skin in the game. The man was nominated for Musical Event of the Year for “Pour Me a Drink” with Post Malone, and they actually won. Still, no Blake, no thank-you speech, and no backstage beers. Just a trophy with no cowboy behind it.

And Gwen? Not even a glittery glimpse.

According to The U.S. Sun, a source close to the couple confirmed they were watching the CMA on their TV this year. That alone would not have raised too many eyebrows, but considering the swirling rumors about their relationship, it did not exactly help.

For weeks now, whispers have been growing louder about a possible split between the two stars. Star magazine reported that Blake and Gwen had been spending an awful lot of time apart lately and were rarely spotted together anymore. Fans noticed it too. The once-constant PDA on social media has gone dark. Even Blake’s birthday post to Gwen was toned down this year with no sappy captions or throwback love.

Then there is that song. “Hangin’ On,” Blake’s newest release, has some reading it like a breakup ballad. While he insisted it was not about his marriage, he added that he hoped it was not. That is not exactly the kind of thing you say when everything is perfect.

Gwen, for her part, has been focusing on her music and just dropped two holiday-themed videos. She is also gearing up for her No Doubt residency in Las Vegas. Blake is hunkered down in Nashville, juggling new music and his growing Ole Red empire. They are clearly grinding, but not always together.

The truth is, these two are very different people. They always have been. She is the glam rock icon with sequins and stilettos. He is the Oklahoma boy with dirt on his boots and a fishing pole in his truck. Sometimes opposites attract, and sometimes opposites get on different schedules and drift.

But do not count them out just yet.

Despite the rumors, both have spoken highly of each other over the years. In 2024, Gwen told The Guardian that meeting Blake was a second chance at life. He has often said she saved him during a dark time. That kind of bond does not snap easily.

Still, skipping the CMAs was a statement, whether intentional or not. And when a couple with this much spotlight history goes missing on the biggest night in country music, people notice. Fans speculate, and the industry listens.

Only Blake and Gwen know what is really going on. From where the rest of us are sitting, things seem quieter than usual in Shelton-Stefani land. And in country music, when the song gets quiet, it usually means something is coming.

So let us hope this is just a verse and not the final chorus.
