Country music’s rowdiest night rolled on without two of its biggest names, and it was loud in all the wrong ways. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, the genre-bending, PDA-loving power couple, were nowhere to be found at the 2025 CMA Awards, and the silence said a whole lot more than words ever could.
Sure, Blake’s CMA attendance has not exactly been clockwork in recent years. However, this time, he had skin in the game. Then there is that song. “Hangin’ On,” Blake’s newest release, has some reading it like a breakup ballad. While he insisted it was not about his marriage, he added that he hoped it was not. That is not exactly the kind of thing you say when everything is perfect.
