In 2016, country superstar Garth Brooks released “Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance” as the first single off his album, Gunslinger.

But before it was released to the radio, the track was exclusively distributed through Brooks’ online music store, GhostTunes. In an exclusive partnership with Fritos, an American brand of corn chips and dipping sauces, anyone who has purchased a bag of Fritos Corn Chips will find a special code on that bag that will give them free access to download “Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance.”

“You don’t get any bigger or better than Garth Brooks, and we’re completely honored to help give fans a fun way to discover his newest work,” Christina Clarke said at the time of release, senior director of marketing, Frito-Lay North America.

A Song That ‘Just Jumps Out When You Hear It’

“Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance” was written by Garth Brooks with Kent Blazy, Steve Dorff, Victoria Shaw, and Kim Williams.

If Kim Williams sounds familiar to you, this is because he’s the brilliant mind behind some of the biggest hits of Brooks like “Papa Loved Mama,” “She’s Gonna Make It,” and “Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘Til The Sun Comes Up).” He also wrote hit singles for other notable artists such as Randy Travis, Reba McEntire, Clay Walker, and Joe Diffie.

Sadly, Williams died even before the song was written entirely.

“‘Baby, Let’s Lay Down and Dance’ was just a fun title that Kent Blazy has had in his book of titles forever, always threatening to write it. So, one day, Kim, Kent, and I sat down and wrote it. We got a little help from Steve Dorff, and then Victoria Shaw finished it. In the middle of this, Kim Williams passed away,” Brooks shared during a press release at the time.

“I’ve got to tell you, I love love love this song, but probably my greatest joy is the fact that this is a Kim Williams song. Not only did it make this record, it’s the first single off this record.”

The upbeat country tune tells the tale of a man who thought he was through with romance until he met this one girl, who made him head over heels in love despite his friends telling him he’s out of her league.

“I got to tell you, girl, you drive me wild. Every time I see you dance and see that smile. My world gets hazy, and I’m moving like I’m in a trance. Whoa, I know it’s cr𝐚zy, but baby, let’s lay down and dance,” the song goes.
