A Country Wedding is perhaps one of the most romantic and memorable films released by Hallmark Channel in recent times. It premiered on June 27, 2015, much to fans’ delight, starring Jesse Metcalfe, Autumn Reeser, and Lauren Holly.

The Plot Sans Spoiler

The romantic film tells the tale of country music sensation Bradley Sutton who is set to marry Catherine, a gorgeous Hollywood actress. But before his wedding, the country star went back to his small-town roots to sell his family’s former house and eventually crossed paths with his childhood sweetheart, Sarah Standor.

Sarah, a small ranch owner, helped Bradley to find again the joy in life’s simple things which he had since neglected. Now that he’s back to his cowboy roots, Bradley felt the need to reevaluate his life and values, inspiring him to write songs again.

As his wedding day is getting near, Bradley must decide as to whom his heart really belongs.

A Country Wedding Cast And Where You’ve Seen Them Before

1. Jesse Metcalfe As Bradley Suttons

Born in California, Jesse Metcalfe studied Film and Television at New York University’s renowned Tisch School of the Arts.

Metcalfe first appeared on the small screen in NBC’s daytime drama, Passions, in 1999 – where he had a successful five-year stint. The actor took a short break from the show to go after other opportunities and came back for his final appearance in 2005.

But Metcalfe rose to fame when he starred as the teen gardener on ABC’s mega-hit series “Desperate Housewives.” His role, who had a forbidden affair with a married housewife – Eva Longoria’s character – caught some media attention and definitely earned Metcalfe some following. His role on the show helped him win the Choice TV Breakout Performance: Male award at the Teen Choice Awards.

Metcalfe also played the title character in the 20th Century Fox, John Tucker Must Die, alongside actresses Sophia Bush, Brittany Snow, and Ashanti. The comedy film followed three girls who are planning to get their revenge on the serial cheater John Tucker by breaking his heart with the help of the new girl in town.

2. Autumn Reeser as Sarah Standor

Autumn Reeser has an extensive career and film in television. She’s famous for her ability to cleverly balance comedy and drama, especially in her roles on HBO’s Entourage and ABC’S No Ordinary Family. She was also a series regular on the Last Resort and had a recurring role on CBS’ “Hawaii Five-O.

And she’s definitely a familiar face to many Hallmark Channel viewers, starring in several of the network’s original movies, including Love on the Menu, All Summer Long, Christmas Under the Stars, and with A Glenbrooke Christmas being the latest one.

In addition to that, Reeser is a longtime theatre actress. Today, she’s a mother of two living in Los Angeles.

3. Laura Mennell as Catherine Mann

The Canadian actress established an illustrious and eventful career through the years. She’s best known for her roles on the shows such as Syfy’s “Alphas” – where she earned a nomination from Leo Award for best performance by a leading lady – and Warner Brothers hit superhero film in 2009, “Watchmen.” Mennell also has recurring and guest-starring roles on popular series like Fox’s “Fringe” as well as The CW’s “Supernatural” and “Smallville.”

The actress has also appeared on a number of Hallmark Channel Original series like The Christmas Ornament, Gourmet Detective, and When Calls the Heart.

4. Lauren Holly as Margaret Feldburg

Lauren Holly is one of the most admired actresses in Hollywood, holding enduring star power. Some of her most memorable roles where she has shown her versatile talent include Netflix’s recently completed drama-thriller Tiny Pretty Things. In 2019, she also wrapped up her season-long arc on Netflix’s “Designated Survivor.”

She has also starred in several other series, including the CTV/ABC’s “Motive,” NBC miniseries “Jackie, Ethel, and Joan: Women of Camelot,” to name a few.

The actress got her breakthrough in a motion picture when she joined the blockbuster Dumb and Dumber casts alongside Jim Carrey. Since then, Holly received several film credits inside her well-regarded career. This includes the 1999 American sports drama film Any Given Sunday featuring an ensemble cast like Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, among others. She also appeared in the 1999 romantic comedy film Sabrina, alongside Harrison Ford.

Where It Was Filmed

Just like the other romance movies, such as A Very Country Wedding, the film has several scenes with lovely backgrounds and picturesque locations. A big part of A Country Wedding has been filmed in Vancouver, located in British Columbia, Canada – which proves to be a significant location for shooting several films and television shows such as Riverdale, The Vampire Diaries, and many more.

Another filming location happens to be in the city of Chilliwack, Canada. The difference between these two filming locations is that Vancouver shows a more urban look in the film, while Chilliwack has plenty of locations with natural landscapes – perfect for barn wedding venues.

Songs Featured in The Film

The film also features dreamy songs that makes it even more romantic. This includes Dan Kosub’s “Back When I Could Call You Mine,” Colin Kennific’s “Love Has Been Here All Along,” and Deana Carter’s “I Never Stopped Loving You” – which is one of the best country wedding songs of all time.

A Country Wedding airs Tuesday, May 4, 8:00 PM / 7:00c and Sunday, May 30, 5:00 PM / 4:00c on The Hallmark Channel and is also available on DVD and streaming on Amazon. You’ll never know, the film could serve you with some country wedding ideas for your big day.
